Guest guest
She's ignorant and narrow minded. I would love to not medicate my children. I'm sure you would to. If I didn't Gail would be in the corner pulling her hair out and ripping her nails and shredding the wallpaper. would be in residential placement. As it is Gail is sporting quite a bruise from Sunday when he BIT her. I could go on, but I am preaching to the choir here. I'd have let her have it with both barrels Raena. She has no idea what you live with or what your life is like, or what your child deals with. She earned it.

All the work and trouble you have put into . Do you post a lot there? Do these parents have children with CDD also? Is there any evidence that 's problems stem from his gut? I don't think there are any miraculous CDD recoveries due to diet, but I sure don't know everything about CDD that you know. Actually it doesn't matter whether or not there is any evidence for having gut problems. She is probably one of those people who thinks that everyone must try her method because her method is the only right one. Those people are just insanely aggravating and they always try to make you feel guilty as a sort of way of validating their own concerns. Sorry, Raena. What did you say to her? Guest guest
In my opinion, you have every right to be angry. This woman essentially tried to nominate you for the Bad Mother of the Year Award. What you are doing with your child is your decision--you know what is best for him. I hope you told her exactly where she could put her opinions. We did not put our child on medications without a great deal of research into those medications, discussion with various professionals *personally aquainted* with him and his situation, and profound internal struggle. He does not have " classic " autism...he has a rare, regressive PDD condition that has left him unable to control his behavioral choices, and without some sort of chemical support to deal with those behaviors, he would not be able to live in our home. He was, to be quite honest, getting dangerous. There truly was no choice. I DO pay attention to diet issues, have spent a *huge* amount of time looking into various biomedical issues, and making what I believe to be wise choices about his needs. He takes certain supplements that seem to help, has tried others that did little or nothing to help him. We continue to make changes as appropriate, and he is making good progress at this time. We track sleep patterns, bowel patterns, eating patterns, and behavior patterns throughout every single day to find out what helps and what does not, and I think that we probably have substantially more specific information about his physical well-being than most parents, to be quite frank. > my little girl changed into another person... a much calmer happier one, just after putting her on the gluten free casien free diet. > I'm very glad your daughter did so well with this...may I suggest, however, that there are MANY causes of autistic type disorders, and what works for one child may not work for others. We have identified (through anecdotal information gathering) genetic issues of metabolism that are probably part of the problem, and are working in that direction. That makes the most sense to me. Forgive me if this note is too unpleasant...I am truly angry at this moment. Raena

Guest guest
I support you completely Raena. I thought that response was very appropriate..even moreso than the one I left! There are people out there who do not believe in medication. I wish they'd quit trying to push that opinion on everyone else. -- In parenting_autism , " rgr4us " wrote: > Here's what I wrote: > > > You should do all you can to get your poor son off all these > > terrible meds with side effects... read the posts regarding > > resperadol. you could definately help him more by treating the > > cause of his problems with diet and cleaning up his gut as opposed > > to just drugging his symptoms which are only indicators of an > > underlying problem that needs to be addressed. > > > With all due respect...I find this post quite offensive. Guest guest
Raena, everyone ~ This post is really getting on my nerves. I mean what this woman said to Raena, not our discussion here. The person who used to be my best friend was one of these sorts of people. Everyone must be on a gluten free diet, everyone must do colon cleansing, yadda yadda yadda, all autistics need to be in either an instutuion or the like, blah blah blah. This is the same person that I told to shove it up her ass and get a grip on reality. This is the same freaking person that called CPS and told them that Chris and I were not " meeting the developmental needs " of our children and the county made an issue out of homeschooling and tried to force us to put our kids in school and sped. I hate people like this. I really do. Raena, you were probably right to go off on her like you did. She deserved it.
