The Wal Mart near my home most Usually has all the carts gone. Ah, you've obviously haven't slipped into the point of " I'm tired of people not disciplining their kids so I will " that my husband and I have. I'm tired of kids misbehaving and if their parents refuse to correct them or pay attention to what they're doing, then I will. We were in a store the other day and as Dane was replacing the wheel chair, he saw a couple of 8 year old (?) girls playing on the other one. He simply told them to get down, it wasn't a play thing and if they didn't actually need one, they had no business playing on one. They gave him a dirty look, but got down and (hopefully) went to find their mother. Darcy

Guest guest
Darcy... I had to reply to this email!!! You are my hero!!! I too am so sick of people not watching their kids. I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD! She is autistic, the hyper kind of autistic (tantrums, etc.). So, I, for one, cannot understand why parents with children who are " on the level " so to speak, cannot teach their children to listen! I have never spanked my daughter...ever. But, she behaves when we go away. I understand that all children will have moments when they act disruptively, but it is the parents job to remove them from the situation. When we are shopping, she is with me at all times, and I mean " glued " to me. It all stems back to people not wanting to be bothered, so to speak. My daughter goes to gymnastics 2x a week. She is in a class with 4 other children. All of the other parents come to class with coffee and the newspaper. They sit at the tables in the lobby and shoot the breeze for an hour. I come dressed in athletic apparel. I am on the floor assisting the teacher and making sure that my daughter gets the most out of the class. Other children are running all over the place, none of the parents ever get up or say anything at all. I could just scream some days, and believe me, I have exchanged words with a few of them. I have fibro, Arnold Chiari Malformation, and had brain surgery last year. As well, I have tumors on the inside of my spinal cord. Yet, I am the idiot running after a group of three year olds while the other parents take a load off! Grrrrr... In another instance, going out to eat is my other pet peeve. I cannot stand to sit around someone who has a child that absolutely cannot behave while eating, and everyone else just sits there and pretends that the child is not throwing food on the floor of the restaurant, or spitting it out of their mouth. If my daughter would EVER act like that in a restaurant, I would have her out that door so fast! She pitched a fit in a pet store 2 days ago. As soon as the started the temper fit, we went out to the car, and as soon as she can calm down, we go back in. If she cannot calm herself down, we go home. That is all that is to it. Anyway, I really go off the deep end on this topic. It drives me crazy! Missy
Guest guest
<< I sometimes see children *Playing* with the electric carts, and I must walk away before I say things to them.. >> The only walking away that I would do is to go straight to the Manager and tell him about the children playing on the electric carts. If I needed a cart and could not get one because of this reason, I would not hesitate to say something to them. I always wonder where the parents are. If you do not stand up for yourself in cases like this, no one else will. Take care, Irene Books may well be the only true magic Alice Hoffman

So, I, for one, cannot understand why parents with children who are > " on the level " so to speak, cannot teach their children to listen! I have a friend who has a 6 year old autistic son. He can really challange her at times. He's gotten much better with connecting with the " real " world, but still has his problems. She was telling me a story how she took her two boys (the other is two) and met three other mothers and their kids at Mcs for lunch one day. The agreement was that two mothers would watch the kids while the other two got their lunches, and visa verca. When it came time for the other two mothers to watch so now these two could go get food, the other two didn't watch the kids. Two of the kids ended up with injuries including one who had to be rushed to the emergency room to see if her fingers were broken. This was preventable accident, if the other mothers had only actually watched the kids instead of chatting with each other. Darcy
