Hi - I was diagnosed just a week ago and have been on

glucophage 500 2x daily since. When should I expect to

see an immpact from the med? I think I can see the

impact from my diet in my BG, but not from the med.

Hi Joe,

I get more confused as I go. I started out with Actos 30mg and Metformin

1000 ex 1 time a day. My BG's fell steadily over the first month but not enough

so my meds were changed to Metformin 500 ex 2 times a day and Actos 45mg 1

time a day and at the second check the readings were lower still but not quite

enough so this past week I was changed to Metformin 1000ex 2 times a day and

Actos stayed the same.

What I don't understand is when I eat something horrible (like Thanksgiving

meal) I had the lowest reading ever (140) but when I do everything right I get

readings anywhere in a range of 150 to 220 usually about 170. So, it's always

a surprise.

I was told it takes about 4 weeks to feel full effects of the drug.

I'm not sure how long until you begin to see the initial impact. If

you feel it's not impacting enough, I would suggest calling your

practitioner and discussing with him/her. Sometimes it takes several

adjustments to find the right combo.
