Guest guest
Let's pray this works! Jacquie H Euphoria Chris's medication review today was interesting. Matt (the Nurse Practioner) spoke with for a few minutes and then brought me back. He asked for my observations, which of course were a basic laundry list for mania. Matt observed that while he had read Dr. Stubbs reviews of such behavior and heard my reports he had not quite seen it...until today. He said seemed quite euphoric and expansive, as well as very 'active'. (Tell me somthing I don't know) So then I politely agreed with him. We went on to discuss medications with the general agreement being that a mood stabilizer would be a very good thing. We are starting Valporic acid (sodium valproate) tonight, 250mg at bedtime and 250mg in the morning. Full efficacy is four to six weeks, with results possible in two. If we are really lucky we might see some results in four or five days. , hoping to be really really lucky (and not in the usual way I am hoping to be lucky, lol)

Guest guest
> Valporic acid's initial side effects I think are very close to lithium's. So feel free to ask me about them if you're worried about anything. > > When I began lithium, the initial side effects included tremors, > unquenchable thirst, ravenous hunger, and problems with word finding. They all faded within weeks. > The side effect that seemed to affect the most was rapid eye movement. If he took a dose on an empty stomach he would have a very hard time focusing. The eye movement caused some balance and co- ordination problems as well. He took Valporic acid for about 3 years for seizures. > I hope the posititve effects kick in quickly!!! Ditto!!
