Guest guest
amber, there is always hope...maybe its too early? i had my first ultrasound a few weeks ago when i was 5weeks and a few days and i was told that i would miscarry the baby wouldnt make it because the yolk sac looked abnormal and there was no fetal heart tone or beat i was devestated i cryed i prayed i talked to people i indulged myself with info on the net trying to figure this out, well when i saw the dr she said im sorry this isnt ur fault dont blame ur self its not due to anything u did or the wls and so on but she offered me an option too i could either go with a dnc right away, wait to miscarry or have another hcg level check and ultrasound well i had the hcg level test and my levels went from apx 6100 to 24000 in one week so she ordered the ultrasound i was just a mess the whole time... well the ultrasound which was when i was 6 weeks a a couple of days they found a heart tone of 95 bpm the radiologist at my work was shocked he couldnt beleive what he was seeing so he gave me hope and with that i continued to pray and a week later which was this last friday i had another ultrasound done 7 weeks 3 days we saw the heart beating away and heard it also it was soo awesome it was at 146 bpm i even got pictures ... im still having spotting and mild cramping but the baby is hanging in there.....i just figure this much, i love this baby and i want this baby but if God wants him he has his reasons...i hope this helps to give u hope, beleive in miracles i beleive im carrying one now...my thoughts and prayers are with u Deanna > Hi all, > > I am 6w3d pg and had an ultrasound last Thursday at 5w6d. The ultrasound showed a gestational sac but no yolk sac or anything else in it. The tech said the sac measured 5w2d. This could be entirely possibly that I ovulated a few days later since we were not ttc and I hadn't been taking temps and charting like I did with my first pregnancy or it might be the +-4 day variation with us. The tech acted like at even 5w2d they should've seen something in the sac so she showed the doctor. He ordered more bloodwork to check hcg levels and suspected a possible miscarriage. On the day of the us my levels were 12468 (which would be pretty high for 5w2d). Two days later they were 19628. They didn't double but I read a couple places on the net that once they reach 12,000 they double about every fourth day so it would seem right on track. On other sites, I've read that once the hcg is as high as mine they should see something inside the gestational sac. I am stressing quite a bit about this all! Now, I just have to wait for my OB to call hopefully today and let me know what the next step is. Basically, I am wondering if any of you have experienced anything like this and what the outcome was or words of wisdom or hope. I am prepared for the worst and hoping for the best. I appreciate all of your feedback! > > > Thanks, > > Amber Yarbrough > edd 6/12/04 > wls 8/07/02 > 360-177 > >

The ultrasound >showed a gestational sac but no yolk sac or anything else in it. This is one of the WORST uses of ultrasound I know of... scaring women to death. Allowing the body to do its thing is vital... as another poster explained. She, too, was offered a D&C when her baby really was in there... just couldn't be seen yet. I *highly* encourage you women to WAIT for signs and such of miscarriage unless there is some other medical indicator to do otherwise; what might seem like a non-viable pregnancy is really just not seeing what is there (for whatever reason... skill/location/woman's size/fat placement/etc.). Technology isn't always what they tout it to be. Barbara E. Herrera, Midwife San Diego, CA Open RNY April 5, 2001 Starting Weight 350/BMI-64 Now 200/Alive and Healthy!
