Guest guest
I have been hearing about the new Zelda game for Gamecube for YEARS! Even since Enrique and finished the last Zelda game, Majora's Mask which was for N64. In January we reserved our copy of Zelda. Last week, Enrique told me that Game Informer rated Zelda a 10, their highest rating. Today it came out. Last night, GameStop, the store where we had reserved our copy, called us and told us that the copies would be in after 7 p.m. today. Wisely, I decided to go alone to pick it up. I envisioned a quick trip with playing with Robbie and Putter in the backyard and Enrique pacing anxiously in the computer room. At first I noticed nothing unusual except that I usually don't have any trouble finding a parking place near GameStop and tonight I could not. Then I saw the line. Then Enrique called me, worried, because someone on Yahoo Messenger was asking to speak to him and he could not imagine who it would be. I told him, grimly, " There is a LINE for Zelda and it goes outside the store and across a number of storefronts. Do you want me to get in it or shall I come home and see who is on Yahoo Messenger. Enrique gave a howl of anguish. I watched more people join the line. " The line is getting longer while I am talking to you, " I said. " Oh, go, GO! " he said. I went. It was a mite embarrassing. There I was a middle aged plump MOM standing in a line with all these young men. Then a frail white-haired lady came up to the line and enquired, " What is this line for. " A mischievous red-headed young man said, " It's for a party. " The lady was no fool, " OH? " she said. " Yeah, " he answered, " It's in that bar down there. " She looked at him a moment longer and then her eyes passed down the line until she came to me. Aha. I was the one to ask. " What is this line for? " she asked. " It's for a game, " I responded wearily, " Zelda. My sons want it and we have it reserved. " She was satisfied, " It must be a good game, " she said cheerfully, " Does it use the mind? " I believe the Zelda games are full of puzzles and do indeed use the mind and I told her so. She was pleased. Another MOM joined the line. She looked around and rolled her eyes and announced to no one in particular, " Oh, he SO owes me for this! " I felt a bond of sympathy and we chatted a bit. But mostly I just waited. For an hour. It was not too bad. The scenery was good. In front of me were Two Astonishingly Handsome Young Men. Only one of them was purchasing Zelda. The other suggested a beer run to the nearest store. " I bet you a hundred dollars I'll be back before you are THERE! " he said pointing a short distance away. I don't think his friend took him up on the offer which was just as well as he would, in fact, have lost. We were at the doors of the store before he returned with his beers. His friend chatted with me a bit before he returned. " How many cash registers do they have, " he wondered. " I imagine they are adding it all up by hand, " I responded. Cell phones rang. People talked and laughed. No one, absolutely no one, said, " Mama? MAMA? " It was fun. Yes, this is the measure of how low my expectations of amusement in life have fallen. An hour in a line without anyone shouting " MAMA! " at me and I think I have had a good time. I successfully purchased Zelda and returned home. met me in the garage. " It's MINE! " I shouted, " I get first play! I waited an hour for this! " He giggled. " You mean it? You want to play it? " No. Actually I do not. They thanked me profusely, Enrique and . I told them that I had had fun and described the peace and quiet and the Two Astonishingly Handsome Young Men. Later Sophie said, " I wish I had gone with you. Were there really Two Astonishingly Handsome Young Men? " LOL. She's a GIRL! She wouldn't wait in line two minutes for a GAME but she'd easily wait in line an hour for Two Astonishingly Handsome Young Men! Guest guest
Salli, I loved your story as usual, and yes, Sophie sounds like an extremely typical NT girl! LOL. Please try to keep the noise and elation down so that does not become privy to this information in a timely manner or I will be beseiged with Mama, Mama's. Speaking of mama, mama, I think that is what I so enjoyed about my foray to WalMart Sunday evening. There was no one pulling on my hair. And no one hanging on my legs. And best of all, no one shouting mama mama at me for a couple of wonderful hours. :-)

Guest guest
2 weekends ago, our county had a flower & garden show. My autism support group had a table in the " nonprofit section " just to spread awareness about autism. I spent an hour on Friday night and an hour on Saturday morning manning the table with another mother. It was heavenly, I only wished that I could have spent all day Saturday, lol. No " Ma! Ma! Ma! " , no filling sippy cups, changing poopie diapers. Despite all the people milling around and stopping at the table to get information, it was SO peaceful. For the most part she and I just chatted about all kinds of different things. My husband looked at me strangely when he asked me how it went and I told him " it was so nice to just be alone ... peace and quiet " . LOL I know you all here understand exactly what I mean. Guest guest
> is the game any good? i think my son might > want it too. Your son wants it. All young males want it, Robbie and Putter included probably. And Enrique feels you should buy anything that Game Informer rates a 10 (last year they gave that rating out to two games; I know, because Enrique checked).
