Hi,

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks trying to summon up the gumpf to

introduce myself - i'm not normally shy but wow this is a busy list!

I'm from the UK and my 3 year old is currently being assessed for

aspergers/high functionning autism. I found this list because i read

Louisa d's website and my daughter sounds very very like hers.

Moo is ritual obsessed, highly stressed, controlling, anxious, needs

lots of sensory input like back rubs and standing on her head. She

clutches hair clips all the time and things have to be " just so " - i

could go on for hours but i suspect you have heard it all many times before.

I've kind of ALWAYS know Moo was different - i have an older and a

younger daughter too - and she was a very different baby - in fact,

having the newer one has made it so obvious HOW different she was - she

didn't enjoy cuddles, or baby talk - she flopped watching TV from very

very young.

We've been having a hard time, then an easier few weeks helped perhaps

cos i am now getting help and am learning a few tricks - but its a tough

row to hoe cos my husband (normally excellent but prolly a bit aspie

too... actually prolly i am as well!!!) is finding it hard to accept the

problem and puts it down to " tiredness " . Full moon sends Moo to sleep

but now we are back into a stressful period again....

Oh... and i home educate my three too - admittedly one is only 10 months

but Fran my eldest is almost 5 now so we go official in september!

Welcome Merry,

My name is Debbie. I have 2.5 year old boy/girl twins, Jordan and

. Jordan was diagnosed with autism on his 2nd birthday, July 2002.

is NT (neurotypical). I live outside Cleveland Ohio with my DH

Rick and our two cats. I'm currently a SAHM. I definitely work harder

now than I did when I was as management in the corporate world. I joke

and say my twins are the worst bosses I've ever had. No vacation, no

sick days, work 7 day weeks, on call 24/7. Pay totally sucks ... but

the benefits are pretty damn nice. ;-)

Anyways, there's several Debbi(e)s on the list. (it's a grand plot to

confuse the hell outta everyone here). So to make things easy for the

rest of you, I go by " Debbie with twins " .

Welcome to the group. I'm so glad you came out of lurking.

P.S. - Is " Moo " short for something? It's definitely a unique name.

:-)
