Best wishes and good luck! I have heard of Dr. Gorospe too. They say he's

very good. I will be using R. Cullen in Oklahoma City. We don't have

a date yet, but hopefully it's going to be in late April or the first week of

May. I read on one of the websites that you should pack something to read,

loose clothing to wear home, and non-slippery houseshoes to walk around the

hospital in. I will try to find the website again and I'll send it to you.

Obesity.com is really cool - very informative and helpful.

Again, best wishes and good luck.

Email me any time - I will be your " support " from Oklahoma City!! LOL

Hi Pam. I was advised to take the usual stuff but my hospital (Staten is. NY)

supplied everything - toothpaste, brush, wet wipes, etc. The one advice I did

take was to bring a wooden spoon. (For hygienic places I couldn't reach). I

wasn't allowed to shower but the nurse's aid helped me wash everyday.

Final Surgery Date (Hopefully!)--Questions

Well, I've been moved up from March 6 to February 27 to February 24.

This is when I'm planning to show up--hope the surgeon does,

also! LOL I'm soooo ready! I'm hoping to get answers to a couple

of questions.

Is there anything SPECIAL I should take to the hospital? (Besides

the usual toothpaste, deo, etc.)

I'll be in the hospital for 4 days--will I be able to shower while

there? (Good Lord, I hope so!)

I know these are silly questions, but I've never really been in the

hospital except for 1 day several years ago for Meniere's disease,

and as far as surgery goes I've only had an exploratory laparoscopic

procedure done about 15 years ago. BOY, AM I GONNA BE IN FOR A

TREAT! LOL

Thanks for the help!

Pam, I took a robe and house shoes to wear while walking the halls.

The gowns at Southcrest are large and covered " everything " , so you

won't need a gown, unless you just want one. I wore loose clothes

there and for going home. I took a shower while there, so you might

want to bring any shower needs that you want. After you get your

leak test, and the ng tube is out, it is a breeze. The nurses are

great. If there is something you need, just ask. If I can help,

let me know. Laberta Dr. G 3/27/02 down 120lbs.

PAM-

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You must be sooo excited!!!!!!!!

I brought a canister of Crystal Light. Just to break-up the boredom of

water! I was up the evening of the surgery, I had an open procedure

and I was very lucky to have a nurse wash my hair the next day, one thing

that did happen and I was totally unprepared for was that I

gained 23POUNDS in the hospital!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UGH!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING

WITH ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

it was from all the fluids they pumped into me.but it stunk all the

same!!!!!!!! It was gone in 3weeks, but I thought I;'d pass that along

I was like HEY!!!!!!! but, its perfectly normal .oh, yeah, slippers and a

robe for your hall " roaming " times unless of course you WANT

to flash everyone and wear " disposable " hospital slippers . a few good

reads and i think you;ll be set!

GOOD LUCK!!!

TAKE

CARE,

KIM : )
