Guest guest
Hi nne, I would suppose it depends on the nerves which are severed when doing the mastectomy. I had almost full feeling in the chest after the surgery. They told me it would be somewhat numb, but I guess I read the wrong medical books. *smile* >I wonder why some it hurts when they take out the drains and not for others. Guest guest
I'm crossing my fingers here. My doc told me he placed the drain in a spot that was pretty sure to be numb after surgery. And the skin IS numb. But the muscles under the skin are clearly NOT numb. I'm hoping that since the drain must exit through the hole in my skin (and that hole is not sensitive now), that it is not going to hurt much. The place where it rests up against pectoral muscle is very sensitive, however. Just hoping they will be quick about it .
