I have sources of exposures here

http://www.danasview.net/metals.htm

I don't have toluene specifically listed, but you can browse the links

I have at the top of the page, see if any of them list that item.

Here's one link-- says the biggest source is gasoline:

Toluene is not eliminated by chelation, but it is easy to misinterpret

certain test results and think it is a problem when it isn't.

Toluene exposure is environmental. It is the solvent in " airplane

glue " that kids sniff to get high, as well as a solvent in other

things, and a component of gasoline.

Please make reference to the files section and other materials at

www.home.earthlink.net/~moriam/

for information on different chelation protocols, etc. as seeing a DAN!

doctor sometimes results in things being prescribed that aren't a

particularly good choice.

You might post the details of your test results and see if anyone has

some input on it. I presume if you are talking about toluene you have

an organic acid test at least.

Yes, the toluene issue came up in an organic acids test. My son's

Hippuric Acid level was elevated - 1045.54 mmol/mol creatinine. All

other levels were normal and no yeast issues.

We are also chelating for lead, antimony, aluminum, and arsenic,

primarily. His DMSA challenge didn't show elevated levels of

mercury. In comparing to Andy's recommended dosing, I'm confused and

concerned. Braden is nearly 4 years old and 38 pounds. Our

recommended dosage is 150 mg DMSA, 3 times per day, 3 days on and 11

off. There were no other specifics given to us by our doctor.

One last thing...we have given our infant one DTaP vaccine

(thimerosal free) at 4 months. Now at 5 months, we regret it and are

hesitant to give any others. Is there a need to finish that series

because we started it? Is it really safe to hold off on all vaccines

until the child is 2 or 3?

Thanks to all who read and respond!

If the measurement was for 2-Methylhippurate then it would be a better

marker for elevated toluene or xylene. Hippuric acid (N-benzoyl

glycine) aka Hippurate is also a marker for the presence of benzoic acid

a common food preservative and a marker for bacterial presence.

Hippurate is the what you get when you combine glycine and benozic acid,

one of the oldest known biochemical pathways, first discovered in 1842.

If the benzoic acid was also elevated additional glycine and pantothenic

acid may be beneficial.

Please read up on the counting rules, the problems with DMSA challenge, and

Andy's protocol for recommended low and slow dosing and schedule and why. You

can find all this in the FAQS/files of this list.

Hi ,

absolutely nothing wrong can happen if you do not continue with

vaccines, but any time you give your child a vaccine you take

significant risk. It's only you and your child taking the risk,

because the doctor, the nurse, and the vaccine manufacturer are not

responsible for any consequences by law. You can get more info on

vaccines here:

It's your choice whether you will use your DAN! doctor's

recommendation or Andy's protocol, but, logically thinking,

abbsolutely nothing can get worse comparing with your doctor's

suggested schedule if you divide your dose by two and give it every

4 hours instead of 8. My advice is at least to start from dosages

recommended by Andy.

Your dose is consistent with the DAN protocol, but much higher than

recommended by Dr. Cutler on this list (PhD in Chemistry, Princeton

University). He says that you don't get that much more mercury out with the

higher doses, but you DO get many more side effects. Also, a few of these

kids are quite sensitive to the DMSA, so starting low and slow makes more

sense.

My son, who is 23 and about 130 lbs. takes 100 mg. of DMSA.

I am a non-conformist on this list, because I chelate 3x per day,

rather than every 3 hours. I use ALA only, not DMSA. However, I

would recommend that if you want to do your doctor's protocol, you

should start with a much lower dose of DMSA, rather than 150 mg, and

see if he might tolerate the 3x per day protocol. If not, you can

switch to the every-3-hours as recommended here.

Not so far as I know.

>>Is it really safe to hold off on all vaccines

> until the child is 2 or 3?

Depends on what you consider " unsafe " . Many people believe all

vaccines are unsafe, so giving them at ANY time is unsafe. Then there

are people who believe that the risk of the vaccinations is less than

the risk of the diseases [and autism], so they give the vaccinations

on schedule.

If your child/ren are already injured by metals and/or viruses, I

would say you should consider that perhaps for your family, the risk

of toxicity is at least as great as the " risk of not vaccinating " .

I have my own personal vax opinion here

http://www.danasview.net/myvaxopn.htm

The DAN protocol is here

http://tacanow.com/danprotocal.htm

Good luck in your decision.
