, welcome to the list!

First off, to answer your questions...yes 14 hours/day is enough to

maintain correction!

To send pics to Dr. Ponseti, it is best (and quickest) to take them

with a digital camera and then email them off to him. You should

send him photos showing your daughter bearing weight on her feet from

the the front view, back view and side views. His contact

information is as follows:

Telephone:

(319)356-3469

Address:

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics

200 Hawkins Drive

Iowa City, IA 52242

Via E-mail:

Now, having read and reread your message a couple of times, I'm

seeing something that raises a red flag for me.

When you consider that typical ponseti-method casting consists of 4-7

castings (occasionally up to 9) and that the casts are generally left

on for 5-7 days and the last cast after a tenotomy is left on for 3

weeks, most babies who began treatment at birth will go into the FAB

by 4 months old at the lastest (that is being very conservative).

The FAB is used full-time for 3 months and then that time is

reduced. So, by 7 months, a baby who received ponseti treatment very

soon after birth should be spending a good part of their day (waking

hours) 'FAB free'.

How many sets of casts did your daughter have and how long did she

wear each set? At what age did she go into the FAB? I ask this

because it seems that your doctor kept your daughter in the FAB full-

time for quite an extended period of time.

Could your daughter be hesitant to stand on her feet because she's

just not used to being out of the FAB?

a total of about 14 hrs a day wear.

must get a frightening amount of mail -how long does it take to get a
