Hey Mike, isn't it great to get your money back?? Congratulations!

I didn't get ALL of mine back, but anything is better than

nothing...and YOU made out like a bandit! Out of curiosity, did you

get pre-approval? It's interesting...I did not have prior approval,

but Blue Shield of California readily paid the $6,200 hospital

portion of my bill. However, they just sent me a letter of denial

for the surgeon's fees of around $3,000(experimental/investigational

etc.) I'll probably send them a letter I had prepared for an appeal

and see if I can squeeze the rest out of them, but if not, I'm very

No pre-approval,...just took a chance. I told my wife that we

probably have a 50/50 chance, since I already knew somebody who use

to post on this site, that had his surgery paid for by BCBS of

Michigan (standard plan). But, all insurance plans differ from

company to company.
