Guest guest
Hi Beth, Our daughter was diagnosed just last summer with her hearing loss and she was 5 as well. (She has a severe to profound loss in her left ear, mild to moderate in her right.) It was a very long journey to get that diagnosis, for a couple of years prior to that, I kept taking her to our ped for testing and was told everytime that her hearing was fine. And because we adopted her when she was a few months old, she never had the newborn screening done. I just want you to know, she's done very, very well with her aids. She LOVES wearing them, especially because now she knows what she couldn't hear before and can hear now because of her aids. She's dealt with all of this with such humor and grace, whereas I've cried, grieved, gotten really angry, and finally learned to let go of the anger, (most of it anyway) and move onto acceptance. One other thing, this board and everyone here have been so helpful, I honestly don't know how I would have made it thru this past year without them, and I truly mean that. Take care, and if I can help in any way, please let me know. Sue
