Guest guest
Dear , Yes, has been on 50 mg. DMAE/day for about 2 years now (I think). He takes so many other things, I'm not sure how/ if it is helping him, but Pfeiffer recommended it. I read up on it and I found an article about " smart supplements " (they were very popular in the 90's) that included DMAE. It talked about it enhancing focus and vision. So I tried it before I gave it to . I think I took 4 capsules based on the article (but I'm not sure I remember correctly). The first day I took it, I noticed an " extra 3-D " effect. I was just more aware of the 3-Dness of the world. I know this sounds strange, but that's what happened. I tried it again at a lower dose and experienced no noticeable effect. Another day I tried the higher dose again, but wasn't aware of any effect. The 3-D day may have just been due to " looking for an effect... " I didn't try it long term. Our older son, , just started taking it last week based on Pfeiffer's prescription. He hasn't reported any changes, but it has been a rough week for him in other ways (he's had an ear infection). FYI, I was reading Balch & Balch's Prescription for Nutritional Healing, and they said that DMAE isn't so much for long term, regular use but rather for times when you need extra focus. Interestingly, we had talked to Dr. Walsh about it at a DAN conference and he said that 17 days was the optimum time to take it...then the body stopped using it (or something...wish I could remember).... I plan to ask Pfeiffer about this when we have our follow up. I'll try to remember to post their answer...Reading the above post, my brain is obviously not working optimally (maybe I need some DMAE!) , mom to and [ ] DMAE Has anyone tried DMAE with their autistic child? Something is irritating him & I wonder if it is that. I gave this to #1 and #2 to help with attention. My #1 reported that he was having very painful erections in the evening/night [and he was only 10 at the time], which is one of the known side effects, so I dropped it.
