Guest guest
Hi Is there any other way you can keep pool water clean other than chlorine chemicals? My husband and I want to put an above-ground pool in the back yard, but he says he will not do so if we have to keep emptying it every few days. Any advice? Tod, After I swim with my 2 y o in our complexes pool I like to give him a soak in an epsom salt bath. I also use a epsom salt creme from Kirkmans I have never seen him have a reaction from the chlorine, I just know it is bad for him. Chlorine is toxic, and for a child who cannot detox other chemicals or metals, why add to the load. I also have changed the cleanser I use in his tub (Bon Ami) and his soap detergent, and just installed a dechlorinator for the house water. I have not been able to see anything from my daughter, but have only been twice so far. I understand that it could kill the good bacteria in them, and as a result cause a yeast problem, but does anyone see any more immediate reactions to watch for? Guest guest
Mindy, A couple of nights ago there was a segment on the news about this. They talked about some kind of salt filter that naturally makes it's own " organic chlorine " . They interviewed a guy that sells pools and he has one of these filters in his pool and says he will never go back to the old way of chlorinating the pool. He said there is no chlorine smell and no burning eyes or dried out hair from the chlorine. I can't remember what it was called...you add salt, I believe, like for a water softener. I don't know much about it, but maybe you could visit a pool store by your house and get some info. My sister just had an above ground pool put in and she said it has some type of purifier so that she doesn't have to add much chlorine. > I am curious. (I don't have my own pool, so I only get to swim in pools with chlorine ). A web search should find more info.... good wishes, Moria
