Guest guest
Pam, My two boys both went through this. And in hindsight, I think it was due to yeast or bad bacteria growth in their guts, because at the time they were doing the smearing was when they were on one antibiotic after another for ear infections. Do you give your daughter enzymes or probiotics? They can help heal the gut and replenish the good bacteria. > In a message dated 6/16/2004 4:44:53 PM Eastern Standard Time, > @w... writes: > Yesterday my daughter smeared poop all over our carpeting, but THIS is > totally grossing me out! Guest guest
Removing dairy helped my daughter with this. She only did it like 3 times after the dairy stopped and also the headbanging and biting stopped. I have heard others with a similar story.................What a nightmare hope she can get some relief soon...............Jen shksthclwn <mazeway@...> wrote: I wonder if someone can help a friend of mine. Guest guest
Hi Barb, I think you are saying that poop smearing results from yeast. Could you please elaboate? How does yeast result into poop smearing? Is the yeast causing a behaviorial issue? Thank you. jromkema <jromkema@...> wrote: Yeast treatment!!!!!! Try grapefruit seed extract or oil of oregano. Guest guest
Yeast causes an anal rash or itchiness. Kids go for their rears, then don't like the stuff on their hands. Guest guest
Hi all, My son did this for years - we found the cause to be yeast!!! I can't stress this enough, take the yeast out of the diet and there is a huge reduction in the poop smearing. This worked for us, just thought I would share. Guest guest
We had this problem and were doing diet and probiotics. After perservering for several months I eventually had enough and resorted to cold showers/baths after a smearing episodes. He very quickly learnt this undesirable behaviour had an undesirable consequence for him and smearing stopped after a short while. Previously I was doing the clean-ups which included warm soapy baths and hair washing (what a lovely reward for negative behaviour!). Hope this helps. shksthclwn <mazeway@...> wrote: I wonder if someone can help a friend of mine. What I've noticed with MY son is that he will only do this when we stop giving him the proper diet and detox. He doesn't do this when he is eating properly and receiving his foot detox. There is really no full proof plan to stop this behavior other than constantly watching the child, which we all know is impossible. They are quick when it comes to this... It is a nightmmare for a parent to walk in a room where their child sits covered in poop and where the walls have been decorated in poop as well. I have to say for me personally this is the worst of the worst. I find that my ability to stay calm flys out the window when this happens. You want to yell and spank, but this is no good. The child just doesn't understand. My only advice is to try detox and diet see if things improve at all. - > > > > > --------------------------------- > Want to start your own business? Guest guest
I don't know if this has been mentioned but Try TSP (Tri sodium phosphate). You can get it at a local hardware store. It is a salt compounds not a dangerous chemical (to best of my knowledge.) It is very useful to clean many things, from gutters to decks. Use gloves, as it will dry the skin especially if you are sensitive. Mix a ½ cup with warm water in a bucket and use a scrub brush and that should do the trick. If not you prob will be painting anyway. HTH Kenny v > > > > > > I wonder if someone can help a friend of mine. Guest guest
Both of my kids did this as well. I wonder, is her house built in the 50's and 60's? I had a suspicion it was lead paint that was causing it, in addition to a bacterial problem. I have no " proof " , but I was all over the city going to doctors trying to fix this problem- it was quite serious for us. In the end, probiotics, enzymes, and diet fixed the problem. The swirls; clean it as best you can, and paint over it. Sounds like you might be dealing with lead. > > > > > > I wonder if someone can help a friend of mine. Guest guest
My little guy smears poop too. The worst part of this is he will eat it if I don't catch him in time. " Yuck " !!!!!! No matter how many times I see him do this its never easy. Smearing the poop, *this is a sensory issue*. " I do know how you feel " . I have had people say that I will get used to this. I just don't see that happening. " Not me anyway " . However, I have found that home made playdoe helps with the smearing. I make it from rice flour and salt. I give him the playdoe and let him play with it for hours. I will send in the recipe if you want it. I also have found allowing him to play in jello helps. Its messy but a lot more sanitary. I have many stories I could share sometime about the poop smearing ordeals. I run a few support groups, and this topic comes up a lot. I join right in, and share my poop horror stories too, LOL! If one could see their face when they discover their child smearing poop. " Whew " ! I take my little guy to the shower when he has smeared poop all over himself, and shower him down, as I am doing this, my husband is busy cleaning up the area that was contaminated. Yup, he smears it all over himself. Oh my, what an awful sight, and mess! Does your child go to the same area every-time when smearing poop? My little guy does! One way I got him to quit this for a while, was to change him in the bathroom. This helped him link poop to the bathroom, not his bed. " Yup " , his bed! I threw out many a mattress over this. I finally got smart, and put a lock on his bedroom door. Only allowing him in there for sleep. He has a playroom, so he has an area to play. The playroom was set up to be cleaned easily. No cloth items are in there! I could chat for days about this, for I am still going through this. My guy is 5 years old. He has been doing this for over a year. Yuck!!!! You can email me anytime if you like. deborah3brock@... Having Patients is the key, " hard to do though " , but will help you and your child get through this. My little guy likes to push my buttons, so I don't let him see that I'm upset. I just clean up his poop smearing session a little while ago when I got up this morning he had it everywhere. That was very hard to deal with. So its back to the playdoe, and Jello therapy. Take Care, and good luck. Guest guest
Were these kids tested for metals? There is usually an underlying reason for this behavior, and this is her second child doing this? Beware that feety pj's are flame retardant treated. This is a source of antimony. Duck tape around the diaper works wells too. And you may need to set your alarm to wake just before or at the same time as the child. Some kiddies cannot be left alone for too long or they get into everything. > > > > > > I wonder if someone can help a friend of mine.
