Do you have an automatic implantable defibrillator? I have one because

of a heart disease that causes me to be prone to ventricular

fibrillation.

" I'm interested in your experience with your defibrillator. "

I received one of the first defibrillator in 1989. The first surgery

they had to open my chest. It was horrible. I have had several battery

changes since 89'. The battery changes are easy. In 2001 I had a whole

new defibrillator/ pacemaker system installed because my old leads and

battery had failed. The surgery went really well. It is truly amazing

how much easier the new surgeries are. They are now very common and

the batteries are so small (my first battery weighed 12 oz.!). Like

any technology, they just get better over time.

Like any surgery, it is important to get the best surgeon that you can

find. You are welcome to email me if you have more questions.

Good Luck!
