Guest guest
Hello, I have a list of food ingredient questions. This is all I use except meat/chicken/fish/rice/fresh fruit and veggies I won't be able to get a gfcf book till hopefully september, when we might come for a quick visit to the US. I am doing this all off the internet. 1. My son loves chiklets, and we use them occasionally. The ingredients are gum base, sugar, glucose, STARCH, citric acid, natural and artificial flavors, food colourants e122/124. They are made by warner lambert company, from usa, based in Egypt. Does anyone know if these are okay?? 2. Do they sneak anything into tomatoe paste (mine says all tomatoes, but they are really bad at labels here-don't label all inside)?? 3. Is sugar/honey/mollasses fine (can they sneak anything into it??) 4. Spices, how do you know if they are fine, what are you looking for in them. Mine say pure ground, are they going to say if they add wheat? 5. Jello (mine has sugar, pure beef gelatin, flavour, autorized, art flavor, citric acid). Yes or no?? 6. Vinegar ( I have read distilled is okay, and I have read it is not- what is the verdict) 7. Rice (what kind of rice sticks wheat between the particles to make them not stick and how do you know?) 8. Vegetable oil-are there any ones to avoid? 9. Baking powder and vanilla (what are we looking for on the ingredients). (my vanilla comes here as vanilla sugar – a packet of 2 tsp of sugar with vanilla in it) My baking powder comes in packets also and is not any brand from the US, but there is some german brand that I can look at. Thank you all for the help. It is difficult to live in a foreign country, be not to skilled at the language(understatement of the year!), and learn your two kids have autism, and then need to start the gfcf diet. To top it all off, the import duty here is so high that it is prohibitative to get anything sent here, so we are trying our best.
