Hi everyone

I just wanted to let everyone know I had my second PT at UCSF, Dr

Duh, on Friday 7-11. Hope that is a lucky number. He was not able

to be much more tissue out but he tried everyway he could. He put in

the trache. In all 4 1/2 hours of surgery and 6 days in the

hospital. 3 in a " step-down " unit (all of the monitoring of the ICU,

but lest intensive care) and 3 on the surgery floor. They were all

properly impressed that I woke up in the OR at the end of the surgery

and moved myself to the bed to go to recovery, where I stayed until

early the next AM, it was one busy day in the OR and beds/rooms were

hard to find and Dr Duh wanted me in the best place. I was impressed

by the care I received. Left the hospital in the afternoon on

Thursday and my daughter brought me directly home to Carson City. Of

course we stopped for an " In & Out Burger " on the way.

Anyone out there got tips for trache care, etc. It's been a little

bit difficult to deal with. The first day home I panicked and called

911, cleared the plug myself. Han't happened again, but it's real

easy to panic, especially when you can't talk. Between my mom,

daughter and a few good friends, someone is staying with me all the

time. Have a visiting nurse checking up a couple of times a week and

respiration therapy.

Thanks for the kind thoughts I have received. Thought of many of you

while I was waiting to come home. Seems like e-mail is my only

link. My daughter and I sign off now with e you, since we can't

spend hours on the phone anymore. It may not be a new phrase, but

new to us.

Sorry for the length, but I miss talking.
