Even though I had told my doctor that I wanted off diabetes meds, my resolution for 2001 was to continue losing weight and stop taking diabetes meds. I have not been on diabetes meds since Feb 2001 and my weight is still at my goal. Resolutions work for me. hugs Eunice

I did not even know he was quitting until several weeks later. Once I started losing weight, it was easy for me. I would weigh once a week and I was always happy to see those lbs melt away. It was slow but I've not gained it back either. You can lose the weight and stop smoking and it will be worth it. If you feel like you are slipping and need encouragement, let us know. And I write them down and plaster them on the fridge, on the wall in my office, on my dashboard - anywhere I'll see them regularly. This year: Business - Do $50,000 in sales from Jan 1st to Dec 14th 2006 Expand my team by 10 members Earn a place on my parent company's Board of Directors Personal - Be a better mom to my son...not that I'm a terrible one, but with everything that's happened this past year, I've realized I kind of pushed the little guy to the side...always saying Just a minute, Hang on...you know. I want him to be my very first priority after my immediate health. Make more of an effort to keep my marriage going. Here I am selling romance enhancement products helping others save their marriages, and my own is going down hard...lol...so I'm reading Dr. Phil (can't stand that guy) and trying to be a typical housewife without losing my self. It's a tough balance to find when you're independent and kind of assume others aren't helpless either. ;o) Get a new vehicle - I like the new Subaru Foresters, and also the Nissan Muranos. I have an extended cab F150 that drinks gas like I drink diet pepsi...lol...gotta get something AWD or 4WD but that gets better than 12 mpg. Get better control over my diabetes...right now it's kicking my @$$. I'm thinking of seeing a new doc - possibly going to Joslin up in Syracuse. My doc is good, if you're not good at following orders - he's very much a try it yourself and let me know how it goes type of guy. I think I need more structure...at least for now. I need to be told when to eat, what to eat, how much insulin to take, etc. I'm too scared to try new things myself. I know right now I should up my insulin, but I'm afraid to cuz the doc didn't suggest specifics, ya know? Even though he's told me - if you're not getting down were you should be, and your eating sensibly, up your insulin a tad. But he doesn't tell me how much to up it. I'm certainly not a self starter...lol. Those are some of my goals/resolutions. Guest guest
My husband and I want to get as healthy as we can, so that we can really enjoy and keep up with our growning family. We have 3 grown daughters, 7 grandchildren, and another on the way. We want to continue to be an active part of their lives. We have 5 grandsons that do all kinds of activities, and 2 small granddaugters. One has epilepsy and developmental issues, and we both need the stamina to help as much as we can. We are sick and tired of being sick and tired! Eunice, you and this group are an inspiration for us to get going! Thanks for being here! Donna N. > > Do any of you make New Year's Resolutions. Guest guest
I've always had trouble keeping my resolutions, but this year I think I'm going to have to. I am hoping to lose weight and get the diabetes under control so that I don't have to take meds. Unfortunately, today hasn't been going too well. I woke yesterday with a sore throat and today with sinus congestion, so I've been eating a small bowl of chicken soup every couple of hours. I'm not sure what to do for the sinus problem since Andria told me I can't take liquids like Robitussun and Sandi told me to take that. Other than the soup I have some herbal tea. Guest guest
Gee Drew, feeling a bit cynical? lol. I've been quit smoking for 8 yrs, was 1 1/2pks/day for over 8 yrs. I gave myself a date and did it. Same with my hubby, who's been quit 6 yrs and was 4 pks/day! Debi
Guest guest
Lol, I vote food because you still have to eat it, but vote for cigs because after 8 yrs I still miss holding it, feeling it, smelling it, tasting it... But glad I quit! Congrats! You can do it! Debi > I don't know which is harder - the diet or no cigarettes! > ~Lynn > > >
Guest guest
Jess, may you accomplish it all! I too find myself pushing my girls away, a constant struggle to do all we need to while being there for them unconditionally! I wanted to tell you there are some great books about marriage, they are " Winning Back your Husband (Wife) Before It's Too Late " . The one for winning husband back is written by women for women and the winning wife is written by men, for me. It's also written by people who's marriages were saved and some that weren't. The point of the books is that each spouse do everything they can to ensure they are fulfilling their roles. I've read parts of both, if my marriage ever falters (been married 11 yrs) I will turn to those books definitely! HTH, Debi
