Guest guest
There is some evidence (both anecdotal and scientific) to suggest that there's a relationship between maturity onset diabetes and trauma involving a high level of stress. Trauma as for example in a car accident does not necessarily involve the fight/flight syndrome. T2 diabetes always involves some insulin resistance. Take care. I gained 48 lbs in less than 2 months. I had started losing the weight when I was diagnosed. I was on diabetes meds for about a year. Once I got really serious about losing the weight, I no longer needed the meds. I've been off of them since 2001. Guest guest
Personally, I think if stress causes diabetes I would have had it years ago. It does not run in my family. My metabolic team nutritionist asked me to add a column in my 'journal' for stress. I laughed. I told her she had a better chance finding out when I DIDN'T have any stress if there was such a day. She said forget the stress column LOL. With the life issues I deal with, the medical issues, and the service dog training I do with people and their problems I have to work with on a daily basis, there must be a better word for stress. I know from keeping my journal that it very well may be the case that some days my BS#s are up because on those days my stress level is outta sight! JUDITH -- > Hi everyone. Newbie here. Guest guest
Thanks again Eunice, right now I think diabetes is controling me. having to deal with food and the times I eat during the day with the appointments I already have is getting to be too hard and I am getting really angry. I expect this will pass. I have worked so hard to have 3 meals and nothing in between because of my eating disorder that now having to deal with food more than 3x/day is next to impossible. I am looking for an eating disorder counselor but haven't had any luck yet. Things are getting a bit out of hand for me, but I have a good team so I have hope that all will be well in not too long a time frame. Guest guest
You only believe that because you expect there to be rules and there are no rules. You make your own rules and then you're in charge. I'm not saying that you shouldn't get help if you think you need it, but you are the master of your own wellbeing and no one else. No good will be achieved by getting angry or frustrated because only you can decide how you want to live your life and then all you have to do is stick with it. But if only life were that simple. <<sigh>> Take care.
