Guest guest
For 1/8 you can divide it twice in half and the result into thirds. For 1/2 you can divide it into thirds immediately. It is not that difficult to divide the capsules. I tip the contents on a bit of baking paper with a crease in it, half the amount with a knife, half it again (and already you got 12.5 mg), than thirds if necessary. I then push one portion onto another bit of paper (the crease helps getting it where you want it). From there I refill it into an empty capsule ready for use (again a crease helps to get it into even quite small capsules which I use at night). Dagmar. [ ] ALA - How do you get the right amount? The bottle of ALA I have is 50 mg per capsule. Andy recommends 1/8 - 1/2 mg per pound. My son is thrity pounds, so how do I give him the right amount? Guest guest
I mix a 50 mg cap in 25 ml juice, and give 5 ml for each dose (ie. 10 mg of ALA). I keep it refrigerated and shake it well before taking each dose. My son is 26 lbs, but I have chelated him for a year already. I started with 4 mg, 10 mg might be too much to begin with. I like it especially at night, there is nothing to do: shake it, fill the dropper, put the dropper in his mouth and he sucks it w/out waking up, and that's it! > The bottle of ALA I have is 50 mg per capsule. Guest guest
If it is a pill, you must cut it, and if it its a veggie cap, open it and divide the content. The ALA pills are of 50mg each, and your son weight is 30 lb. You should be giving him between 1/8 and 1/2 mg per pound, that is, between 4 mg and 15 mg. If you cut the pill in 2, each part will be 25mg, too much. If you cut the pill in 4, each part will be 12.5 mg, very close to 15mg, or 1/2 mg per pound dose. If you cut the pill in 8, each part will be 6.25 mg, close enough to the 4 mg, or 1/8 mg per pound per child. Hope this helps. Raquel > The bottle of ALA I have is 50 mg per capsule.
