I just wanted to say hello and thank you to everyone. My daughter

Ava was born 8/4/04 and has a club foot on the right side. She is

being treated using the Ponseti method by Dr. Reallyvasquez at St.

's in Philadelphia. Today was the first day that I had a

chance to get online & look for any info. And honestly, I really

wasn't able to bring myself to look for anything before now. We have

2 other children (2 & 4) who are completely healthy (I don't really

know how to say that...it makes it sound like there's something

wrong with Ava--which, yes she has a club foot, but I don't want it

to sound...you all know, I'm sure) Anyway, it really through me for

a loop when she was born. In our case, our decisions on a doctor

were a little more complicated because we're Jehovah's Witnesses,

and as such don't accept blood transfusions. So we wanted to make

sure we hooked up with a doctor who would respect that if surgery

did become necessary. St. 's has a wonderful Blood

Conservation program--which I would encourage any parent to look

into, even if they don't have a religious objection to the use of

blood--there are many health risks to transfustions also. Anyway,

that's off the subject. But you can see why Ponseti's method was

even more appealing to us with such a reduced risk of surgery. But I

just wanted to thank everyone, because as I was reading past posts I

was seeing exactly what we are going through, and I just started to

cry. It's so wonderful to know that you're not alone. Anyway, Ava's

starting to cry so I'll end this. But thanks again!

Hi and welcome! Glad to hear everything is going ok for you and your

family. Finding a good doctor is the most important part of this

problem, if you ask me.
