Beth,

One of the things that Dr. H. has talked about and that research has

shown is that IUGR/SGA/RSS kids are at risk for insulin

resistance/type 2 diabetes as they get older. It's hard to believe,

I know, but it is true.

My son, Max, for example, was a very thin child, who had to be tube

fed until he was 11. Now, all of a sudden, he has filled out - and

had a weight gain of almost 6 pounds in three months! He is not

overweight, but almost. It just happened so quickly! Now he has to

watch what he eats and relearn proper eating/dietary habits.

This does not mean it will happen to all of our children, either.

It just means that they are more at risk. Just when we thought Max

was getting older and the problems would get better, we have another

curve ball to deal with. Oh well. We still love him!

Beth,

Other than getting tired easily, I am feeling much better. The

doctor switched me to stronger asthma meds and I can breathe again!

Going back to school on Thursday should be a challenge, but I can

rest up until then.

Woops - no I can't. I'm giving my husband a New Year's Eve/50th

birthday party. One day at a time....

Thanks for your concern!

Jodi
