Guest guest
Hi, out of desperation today, I added 12.5 mcg synthroid to my 45 mgs armour. I decided to do this because the one thing synthroid did do was warm me up! So far, my body seems to adjust so quickly to every increase of armour, I'm afraid that I will run out if I don't get some from another source soon. Anyone else combine synthroid and armour? For what purposes?, is it prescribed or self medicated? In what ratio? Sorry for all the ??? and thanks for any help Sim
Guest guest
Hi Sim. There's absolutely nothing wrong with adding the Synthroid until you get more of the Armour. Once you do get the Armour, you might get off the Synthroid, and add a bit of Armour. I always recommend that folks go up on Armour until you feel you are at your optimal dose--that's a dose that takes away all symptoms, and if you use labs, it tends to get your free T3 at the top of the range, if not over, and your TSH way below 1. Then.........if you feel the need to add T4, you can. Some folks like to see both the free T3 and free T4 at the top of the range, and if it benefits them, it's great. I get the impression that most folks here do not add T4. Armour by itself, when you find your optimal dose, has done the job. Armour is 80% T4, by the way. Guest guest
Hi Janie; Thank you so much for the sage advice. Yeah, the big consideration here is that I have lots of synthroid (and various generic and other brand name levothyroxine that had been prescribed in the past); but I have tripled my armour dose; and still have not received any that I have ordered. I'm so damned cold! I think that, more than anything, that drove me to desperation. Sure enough, adding another 15 mgs of armour and 12.5 mcgs of synthroid has raised my temp to 98 today, so things are a little bit better. Sim > > Hi Sim.
