Hi Lin, This is a very real problem, getting sick after dental procedures. When the teeth are worked on small amounts of bacteria are released into the bloodstream. Normally in healthy people this causes no problems because their immune system takes care of it. In someone with a compromised immune system it can cause serious problems even septicemia. If someone has abnormal heart valves or any kind of hardware anywhere in the body it gives a nice place for these bacteria to adhere and multiply. This can become very serious. I have a SCS so every dental procedure, even a cleaning I have to pre-medicate with Amoxicillin. This is to insure those nasty little bugs DIE!!!! LOL!!! So far so good. Take care, Love Jai
