Guest guest
My daughter was 7 when I started chelating her. She has never received any diagnosis. To be honest her progress is very slow, but she has had some improvements over the last year (although to a large extend only noticeable in retrospect). She lost her bad breath nearly completely. She seems calmer now. She is getting better at expressing her real feelings rather than feelings she thinks she should have. She is now more likely to talk about things which cause her problems. In the past she tried more to ignore problems or maybe she didn't believe anything could be resolved. After a year of chelation it seemed right to send her to school (she had been home-educated so far). She amazes me how well she seems to be able to concentrate. She also seems to be getting better about relating to other children and making friends. She also doesn't chew her fingernails much anymore or other non-food items (this might to some extend be due to the WaterOz zinc though and not entirely to chelation). We still have a long way to go. What I did before I started chelating her was to write down all the changes I was hoping for. Dagmar. [ ] Anyone with high functioning older child--does chelation help? I've read so much about how everyone's children are improving with chelation. My son is very high functioning (Asperger's) and is approaching 5 years old. Am I likely to see any gains with him? Most of the gains it seems like I read about on the board are language improvements. My son is very verbal, just has no eye contact, no pretend play, low social skills, not well potty trained. =======================================================

I have a 9-1/2 yo son, I started chelating him about a year ago, he has completed about 40 rounds of ALA. If I had him dx at the beginning, he would have probably been dx as ADD, CAPD, and shadow-AS. Main deficits are social skills and semi-stuttering [has trouble finding the right words, so will repeat words and phrases]. His social skills are much better, altho still delayed. He now prefers playing with friends to being alone reading a book. He is better able to find words, altho it is still a problem for him [we are constantly telling him to " stop, decide what you want to say, then say it " ], but now he can do that, whereas before he still had problems. Guest guest
I just started chelating myself. I have been chelating my autistic son for 3 years. I am 39 and just before I got pregnant w/ Jack, my 7yr son, I developed allergies, dust, pollen. I was having really bad sinus problems for several years, this time of year. I now do not have any sinus problems. I can also swing on a swing again without feeling sick. There are many subtle benefits. I am glad I am chelating. If metals are a problem removing them is a benefit. nne > > I've read so much about how everyone's children are improving with > > chelation. Thanks for sharing about your son. It's the kind of encouragement I need right now.
Guest guest
I too have an older (14 yr old) son with Asperger's. Most of his difficulties have been eye contact, social skills, following multiple directions, organization, etc. He has just completed his first round of chelation (DMSA and ALA) last weekend. The most " visual " result has been in that his once platium blonde hair which had turned to a slivery black color is returning with blonde highlights. I thought I was seeing things so I called his Dr and was told that it wasn't unusual because toxins can accumulate in the hair. His father, who is working out of town, called that Monday night and spoke with him. Later I spoke with his father and he told me he was impressed because it was the first time he felt like he'd actually had a conversation with our son. That in itself is worth it. Then the other day when I stopped into school the counselor giving the social skills class stopped me and said he seemed to be very " playful " in class. Usually, he has a dfficult time in being there, but he acutally participated more and communicated with the others in more appropriate ways. Not sure if it's all due to chelation or not. I did recently (within the month) also took him off the antidepressants given to him by another Dr. Amazingly 2 weeks later the FDA starting investigating the usage of antidepressants in children. Hope this helps a little. I'm looking forward to the next round to see how it goes. Hopefully, we won't have any of those nasty yeast problems..... Guest guest
, 7 rounds? how many are there. Where did you get your information and products from? My son is 8yrs old very high functioning Asperger's. We've done 7 rounds and are seeing lots of great improvements in social skills. We went to a birthday party at a friends house 2 weekends ago. There were 8 kids and 15 adults there. We stayed about 5 hrs. He played with the other kids the whole time! He didn't have a single melt down, he even came to the table unprompted and sang happy birthday to the birthday girl. No one could believe how well he did. I've also gotten reports from school that's he's playing with other boys on the playground and his classmates are asking to be his partner in the class and want him to sit by them at lunch. These are huge improvements. Last yr I went to school and had lunch with him. I came home in tears because not a single child spoke to him. =======================================================

My kids are now ages 4-1/2, 6-1/2, 8 [next month]. I also have a 9- 1/2 who has completed only about 40 rounds. I have been chelating the younger 3 for over 2 years, the older one about 1 year. My schedule is not the typical schedule, but it worked for my kids. You can read my family's story here http://www.danasview.net/myson.htm The chelation info is about the middle of the page. Guest guest
> Sam, > If I may call you Sam? Sure, Sam is fine. How many rounds are there of chelation? I believe that is an individual thing. I think I remember reading the average is 2 yrs. How old is your son? He's 8yrs old. He'll be 9 the end of March. What is the schedule like? Is it hard? We usually chelate every other weekend. I start as soon as he gets home from school. Then he gets a dose every 3 hrs, 4hrs at night. So for us its like 4pm, 7pm, 11pm, 3am, 7am(on sat.) 10am, 1pm, ect...With the last dose given at 7am monday morning. I have to set the alarm for every dose so I don't forget. Its a little hard but each round gets easier I think. You get used to it. Sorry for so many questions. That's ok. I don't mind. But I'm certainly no expert. There are lots of people on this list who really know their stuff. I did think of something I wanted to add to my first post about this. My son was having low body temps. I thought he might be hypothyroid. I found another list WS- Forum/ Steve, on that list, taught me how to re-set s body temp back to normal. I think that improved his social skills too. I can't be certain what one thing is working or if it is just one thing because we did both at the same time. Good luck with your son+++++ , Mom to 8yr & Hannah 5yr > Bonnie,Lukes mom.
