Guest guest
I was wondering something about this list found on Dr. Ponseti's website. It seems so often the docs listed are not using the method in it's entirety - am I wrong? If I'm right, why would this be? Is there anything we can do to help make this list more accurate? Can someone refresh me on what is needed in order to be placed on this list? Guest guest
Holly, Below is an part of a letter that Dr. Ponseti sent to my husband and I in regards to being placed on his list. Hope this helps. Carolyn " I am not familiar with Dr. Podeszwa. On my web site I have a list of physicians who I feel are trained in and properly using my technique. Before I add a physician's name, I ask that they submit to me photos of 3 babies they have treated showing the feet before treatment was started and after it was completed, together with information regarding the number of casts used, type of cast, type of casting material, whether a tenotomy was performed, if the feet were fully corrected or if surgery will be needed, type of brace prescribed and how long the brace is to be worn. " Question about Dr. Ponseti's List of Qualified Docs in his Method I was wondering something about this list found on Dr. Ponseti's website. It seems so often the docs listed are not using the method in it's entirety - am I wrong? If I'm right, why would this be? Is there anything we can do to help make this list more accurate? Can someone refresh me on what is needed in order to be placed on this list? Guest guest
Holly, I know a few of us have had complaints about one of the Drs on the qualified list. Dr Ponseti even said this Dr was not properly using the method.....but his name remains. I think it is not fair to parents when there is another Dr in the same state on the list that is practicing the Ponseti method. I wonder if somehow some Drs can tell Dr Ponseti that they are having higher success rates than they actually are. Or is it something they have to prove to him....good question, I would love to know the answer to this one. I would think a poll on the number of parents with complaints about Drs on the list would be helpful in some way as well. I think it is one thing if the Dr is having trouble because it is just a difficult case......but when the Dr is just not really following through with the treatment properly I think that is something that should be addressed . Maybe someone could start some type of poll to see how many parents have had problems with certain Drs on the list not following the method. I don't know how to do that...... > I was wondering something about this list found on Dr. Ponseti's > website. Guest guest
I would really like to find a way to update this list and make it more accurate. I hate to refer people to the list but then tell them to be sure to run the doctor they choose from that list by Dr. Ponseti to make sure they really are using the method as prescribed. It sort of takes away from the validity of the website and method. Holly Zachary 7/27/02 > Holly, I know a few of us have had complaints about one of the Drs > on the qualified list.
