Guest guest
Hi My 4yr old boy is Aspergers. Thus like yours his motor co-ordination was bad and social skills bad. Speech was ok but a lot of echoic and pedantic, high pitched talking. I am doing chelation on my own. No doctors, no tests. I live in the UK, such things are not easy. The only test I did was the DDI hair test, just to convince myself I was on the right track. I followed the advice on Moira's site and had it done without a doctors's note using direct lab. I had the courage to start by reading all the files on Moira's site, by getting Andy's book, by reading the LOVE Letters and by reading Dana's site. The stories and clear protocols gave me all the info I felt I needed. I have continued with chelation (am currently on round 26) with the support of this list and personal emails from others who have tons more experience that myself. Such support is priceless and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all. The other factor that helps me to continue it the changes in my boy . He's doing so well! I don't need labs tests to tell me what I can see with my eyes and eyes. His SIT is amazed at his improved muscle tone. Last week he finally figured out how to ride a bike. His speech is tons better, less talking more commmunication! His social skills have also improved. He's always asking to play with the 3 yr boy next door and no longer runs away from all the children at nursery. He's clumsy in his approach but we're hoping time and VB will sort this out. For supplementation I rely mostly on Brainchilds (spectrun II, no ALA) plus probiotics and HNI enzymes. With irregular use of GSE and OoO for yeast. Don't let feeling alone stop you. There's enough information, help and support on this list to ensure you do it right. Good luck in whatever you decide Kay
Guest guest
My son got his ?AS " diagnosis " at age 7. I had previously wondered about ADHD, but had not sought evaluation until then. Big social problems and temper. GFCF did not work for us---His already horrible constipation problems just got worse. We did various combinations of the usual supplements. My son is now 10 and doing great. He has a best friend (who is a bit odd, too, but that's okay;) He gets along in class most of the time. 4th grade has been generally wonderful in comparison to 1st and second. He can't wait to start his (regular, NT kids) YMCA program next week (very social). He still gets frustrated easily, but is much better at calming himself down. He may well be the most disorganized (schoolwork) person on the planet---but we are working on that Constipation still a bit of an issue, but vastly improved. What worked: 1) Chelation with Andy's protocol DMSA/ALA at first, now I usually use ALA only. He is at 55+ rounds now. 2) Cranial sacral therapy. You really need to get the right person, but when you do it can go very well. My younger daughter (more severe ASD, seizures) is not making as much progress, but we started younger with her so I guess there is some hope. Please feel free to e- me off list if you need more information. --Lissy [ ] Doing Chelation on our own Hello Everyone, We have a soon to be 6 year old child with Aspergers and mild ADHD. We are thinking of chelation, his oral skills are fine, problems areas are social issues and some fine motor and gross motor skills problems. The main reason we want to go in chelation are because of his social problems, he does not understand joking or light hearted humour,he cries easily, gets easily overwhelmed in group or new situations, poor eye contact especially in group situations, he gets teased at school a lot. He is on GFCF and supplements which have helped but these issues have remained. Has chelation helped anyone with these issues? Anyone here choose not to do chelation? why?. We are not in the U.S. so have to do it on our own, so would especially like to hear from parents who are doing it on their own. What chelation agents are you using, what pre chelation and during chelation tests you are doing and where are you ordering them at? Doctors Data? I have read Dr Mc Candless book and other online sources Thanks =======================================================

His issues too were primarily social and gut-related. When I started in January he had no friends and was on SCD with enzymes....and I'm happy to report that he responded wonderfully to chelation (sometimes ALA + DMSA, low dose/every 3 hrs, sometimes ALA only same timing). The very first weekend we went to the playground and he introduced himself (!!) to another kid and ran off playing. He had never ever spoken to another kid on a playground before, and had only been able to tolerate anyone else being there after being on enzymes for awhile. So far only 17 rounds, but now that school is out and that stress is gone, he seems NT to me now. Phenol intolerance has disappeared. He's playing happily and creatively with his little sister now and having successful playdates with kids in the neighborhood. He still can't eat artificials without a reaction, but all in all he's doing beautifully and I give the credit to enzymes and chelation. As for testing, I'm in touch with a DAN doc (she signed our vax waivers) and she said Andy's protocol is safe enough that testing is unnecessary unless you suspect a problem. n did get sniffles and a cough during his last round and so I'm just waiting until that clears before starting again, and I think I'll stick to ALA only for awhile. I have read Dr Mc Candless book and other online sources I chelated all four of my children on my own, no testing or other medical intervention. My #1 had similar issues as you describe for your child. I used ALA and several supplements.
