Guest guest
Hope Everyone is doing great today... I just wanted to stop by and say hello...I have read that some of you are frustrated with people saying that our kids should pay closer attention...I am starting to get that more that Dakota is in Kindergarten...he is having his 2 year anniversary for his cochlear implant in April..and he is doing wonderful...he is saying so many words you wouldn't belive it...I had gotten in contact with Wesley and she provided me with materials to help at home with listening and tips thru Listening for Littles..and I have been following that... I am also taking Dakota every Friday afternoon for tutoring at Central Institute for the Deaf in St Louis ,MO..which is a 2 hour round trip..it has been 2 months worth of Fridays already almost..and he is doing amazing...he is paying attention more at home and in the public school classes...his HI teacher has noted the differece as well.. His teacher is Mrs. West....at CID... even with Dakotas Implant he is a signer and his HI is getting frustrated that he is wanting to watch the talking teacher more than he is following the HI signing..i am not sure what the answer is to this..has anyone had this problem? i suggested that the HI get closer int he class room to the teacher that way he will benifit from both in the classroom..until he is completley able to understand vocally...but the HI doesn't agree..so she stands right on Dakota ..making him rely completley one on one with her..which frustrates me.. any suggestions are appreciated... Thanks for listening, Cathy
