Hi, Janie - I hope that this remains a hypothetical conversation, and that your surgeon is able to salvage at least one functioning parathyroid. I'm sure that other hypoparas will write and and share their experiences, but my guess is that you will probably find managing hypoparathyroidism to be more of a headache than managing thyroid cancer.
