Caro you really do need to use the oxygen and as everyone will tell

you even better than i carrying things, vacuuming, bending over,

just walking up the stairs is difficult and frustrating like you

said. i know linda and joyce have reminded me of ways of doing

things to conserve energy and my breath.

i have to tell you i too suck the air in and have done it for years

and in front of patients and i call it my backwards burp.. i have

not been able to explain it to my docs but i do understand why it

happens. never has happened when i was eating; that is scarey..

take care and good luck.. the group can give you alot of good ideas.

this is a big problem; i was told not to drink fluids with my meals

and also, 6 small meals; i have also found that certain foods are

harder for me to eat and breathe, A hoagie is one of those things,

can't eat mozzarella sticks anymore.. it is strange the things that

change and difficult to explain to others. Also, not drinking

fluids too soon before bed.. these things also help if you have

I hadn't thought about stopping eating until I catch my breath. That would be a good idea instead of just giving up and throwing it away. Some days I just have bad days and don't even want to try any more. But other days I do whatever it takes and am determined to keep going as long as possible. Today I feel a little better than yesterday but my Sjogren's is giving me fits this morning. My mouth is so dry I think I could drink a gallon of water and it wouldn't be enough!! Caro you really do need to use the oxygen and as everyone will tell you even better than i carrying things, vacuuming, bending over, just walking up the stairs is difficult and frustrating like you said. i know linda and joyce have reminded me of ways of doing things to conserve energy and my breath. i have to tell you i too suck the air in and have done it for years and in front of patients and i call it my backwards burp.. i have not been able to explain it to my docs but i do understand why it happens. never has happened when i was eating; that is scarey.. take care and good luck.. the group can give you alot of good ideas. patti, nj, ipf 7'06, raynauds, scleroderm a, PH 2'07> > > >> > > > Jack,> > > > Dr. Weil's website has alot of information on an anti-> > inflammatory diet. I hate eating out, too. Since I have the Sjogren's, I get choked a lot and then start coughing and can't stop. Really embarrassing. Even drinking fluids won't stop it most times. People tend to stare, but I try anyway. I just keep telling myself they just don't understand. I mostly just cook myself and eat at home. If I do want fast food, I usually get it delivered or take out. CaroASTHMA 1976,OSTEOARTHRITIS 2002, COPD 02/06, IPF 08/07, UIP 01/08, RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS 03/08 SJOGREN SYNDROME 07/08Mississippi
