Guest guest
Hi Jan, Well it must be a relief to have the op and tension of worrying about outcomes etc over............ and then to have to send along the great info on the longlivity of someone's THR......... Many people do - an old guy was turning up where I swim - he was preparing for a revision of his 25 year old THR........ He told me he had gone back to being a builder after he received it in his 50's....... And who knows what extras will be around in 20 + years for your son.......... All the best for his recovery and rehab......... I think he will just be so happy to be out of pain and have some normal life for however long it lasts....... I have a 21 year old so know a bit about what they should be doing other than limping around in pain etc.......... and how much he will really enjoy wearing those tights......... make sure you get a photo of him with them on..........smile. Guest guest
Jan, Good to hear that Jeff got through surgery, although it would have been good to have a resurface, I hope he makes a speedy recovery Liney ________________________________________________________________________ Yahoo! Guest guest
--- Jan, Glad to hear that all went well. I know my brother wishes he could have had the large head THR. Tell Jeff hello for me and my prayers are still headed your way. I would be interested in the protocol for this hip. ?% wt bearing for how many mo? Guest guest
Tug (and Caroline), Thanks for the kind thoughts. At this point he is on crutches (or a walker) for six weeks and is allowed to just touch down with his foot, no real weight bearing. He is also not supposed to bend more than 60 degrees (along with the usual not turning his feet in or crossing midline) until the next checkup. I know that his doctor is being very conservative with him as we all want this to last him as long as possible. His doctor did say that he was pleased with the range of motion that he was able to move Jeff's leg through after the implant was put in. The staples will come out tomorrow, so he's looking forward to a real shower soon. Happy Holidays!
