Hell no. The smallest resurf scars I've heard of are about 5 inches and the smaller the scar, the longer the surgery, i.e. the general anesthetic. Bottom line (excuse the pun) is that if you're in enough pain, you won't care about the scar. Des Tuck Two of them

The only people who routinely notice at the pool are older folks who have had a THR or who are considering it. They usually want to commiserate and it's a good way to spread the word. jeff rBHR Aug. 1, 2001 Mr. McMinn =========== " Chicks dig scars " -- on a sweatshirt my wife gave me after my resurfacing. Guest guest
To have access to reshape the femor head the Dr. needs room. My scar is nine inches (approx). I'm 5'9 " and all leg, perhaps person size also makes a difference. I didn't care about the size of the scar, just wanted to be able to get resurfaced. Dr. DeSmet did it inspite of a cyst hollowing 1/3 of my femor head, and bone that wasn't so great either. His surgery was so " clean " that I didn't even bruise. So far no one has commented on it at the gym, but it will be a conversation starter I am sure! I'm just thrilled to start a new life in the new year without pain! Horseback riding, skiing, yoga, biking will all me mine again in the new year! yippiee! Guest guest
Hi, It seems mostly around here no one wants to worry too much about what it looks like on the outside........ everyone is far more concerned with getting the best mechanics on the inside where it really counts in the long run............smile. I have a scar about every 4 inches around my hip joint and the resurface is the nicest of them all............ not only because it gave me back my life............. but it was a nice neat job........... With all those I decided and a couple more nasties on the other side........ I have decided what the hell and front the pool in normal costume.......... they have not asked me to leave for frightening the children as yet...........smile. It really depends on how important body image is to you in that area I guess............. There are some pretty tacky sights out there even without scars........... Guest guest
Mine is six inches. After a little more than a year, it's hard to find it. Do be sure to avoid getting any sun on it that first summer or it will not fade so well. This was without using Mederma. Recently I had a knee surgery, have been using Mederma because the front of the knee will be very much in plain sight when I get back in my skating costume. Mederma is expensive; but it is working well.
