Guest guest
Has anyone here undergone a Plantar Release yet? I understand that Plantaris isnt very common and that doing a release is even more uncommon. On Sept 13th, Elijah is scheduled for another tenotomy and the plantar release. The first tenotomy was inaffective due to the plantar tendon trying to fold his foot in half and allowing him to slip out of the cast, which affected the way his foot healed (in a downward angle). This isnt going to be 'in office' like before. She's going to take him to the O.R. and instead of putting him all the way under and intubating him, she's going to use ketamine for the surgery. Has anyone had any experience w/ the drug?? Lori and Elijah 3/26/04, RCF, atypical - plantaris, serial casting, pending surgery.

Leah had her second Achilles release 3 weeks ago. Her doc also cut the plantaris tendon while he was in there, and the big toe tendon because her big toes kept pulling downward when he repositioned the foot. Only about 1/2 the population has the plantaris tendon, and it is often used for tendon grafts/repairs. It inserts in the Achilles tendon, so it is easily accessible. Her feet, especially the right foot, also healed with the heel off the floor, and the tendons were very tight again. He uses general anesthesia for all his releases, so we're not familiar with that other drug. good luck, Rob, , Leah Graham (12/18/03, post-op casts)
