I have labeled them thus, as it sure is a crime the way those

little traitors are fleeing the scene (ha : )

e - I want you to know that I saluted you yesterday

morning with my gift wrapping scissors (hey, they were handy)

right before I gave myself a lovely G.I. Jane look : ) so I could

wear my hair (you remember, the one the UPS man lost??)

to school. I told my husband at the rate I was replace parts, I

should probably relocate to Hollywood with the rest of the

plastic peoples : )

Question to those with chemo-induced menopause...how

long did it take before your periods stopped? Or did they

just sort of gradually slow down?

Have a blessed day!!

Hi Jen,

I had 4 treatments of AC dose-dense (every 2 weeks).

Up till then my periods were regular. I had 2 periods, then some slight

bleeding after the 2nd one, then I went cold turkey. For a month

nothing, then hot flashes started!

My last period was January. I'm keeping all my supplies till next

January, thanks to and some other women mentioning that their

periods came back after a year.

Dear Holly Hotflash: You are toooo funny! I began my lovely

journey into menopause (at 48) and the world of hot flashes after my

second chemo treatment. Haven't had a period since June and they

tell me I'm not producing est. so I won't have it again. We can be

pretty certain about that because I do have to get a hysterectomy

the end of October. Mine seem to come in the evening mostly and I'm

steaming hot from the inside out. Strange, but true. I've found

that sticking your head in the freezer helps greatly. they only

last, for me, about 2 minutes. Welcome to our " later years " .

Hugs,

Ellen

Jen;

I was wondering the same thing about menopause. You and I seem to be

on the same chemo schedule. My second one is on October 3rd. My hair

is also falling out. I thought I'd be ok with it but that first clump

was very traumatizing. My son stopped at home while working and I was

a mess !! He just told me that it was ok. I'm still me whether or not

I have hair and that he loved me. His girlfriend then took me turban

shopping. We had a giggle over some of the options !! I then went to

work and my agents at work said that they were going to buy me a

leather do rag from the motorcycle shop!! I wouldn't put it past

them !! We usually dress up for Halloween at work so I figured hey, I

can dress up as a biker !! Might as well have some fun with all of

this. Still pondering the wig option.

Hope everyone has a good day !!

Good morning ladies I hope every one is doing great today, and if you are

waiting I hope you find some peace while you do. I had to get my input in this

one... Margaritas first big chunk was also hard, but after that she has learned

to cope with it with some humor, Gloria, the other twin, is always telling

her to wear a hat or turban, Margarita says is too hot and she dont mind "

going bald " so there we are driving somewhere or at a Dr.s office and all

of the sudden Margaritas head gear comes off..... and Gloria wishes she could

hide in our purse lol.... Gloria will be starting chemo soonest they get rid

of all this fluid she has accumulated ( surgery was 5 months ago, and then she

burned really bad during radiation ) she also had an infection, the fluid was

growing some bacteria, anyways it has been months of drains and vacs and all

that stuff but I am affraid she will be devastaded if she looses her hair

with the chemo...... she didnt loose it the

first time around she swears... ( that was 15 years ago )

I guess we are running pretty much the same : ) my 2nd A/C is

Oct. 5th. I actually thought I had the hair thing well planned in

advance (ordered hair on August 5th) unfortunately, UPS went

and LOST MY HAIR...the replacement for my replacement hair

arrived just last week (whew!)

My hair was about waist length at the end of May, got it cut to

just past my shoulders in June, was diagnosed in July, had it

cut short to match wig in August, and (as of yesterday) I am

now sporting a temporary (VERY) GI Jane do until the rest of it

bails so I could start wearing my " bought hair " : ) I am not

really traumatized (it's not like I didn't know this was coming : )

I have opted to handle this issue in a very mature, dignified,

adult manner...I just blow a raspberry at my Hoo-Ah haircut

every time I pass a mirror (works for me : ) a Young has

some very nice wigs that are not too $ outrageous. (you can

request a catalog online). Since I had a teacher at work ask

me for my hairdresser's phone number, I'd have to say it

looks pretty darn real...ha, ha, ha (made my day : )

I had my 1st AC Chemo last year May 2, 2005, my 2nd AC was May 16, 2005. My

last period was May17, 2005, so it;s been way over a year for me.

I did have my FSH,Estrodiol and Estrogen levels checked and they all clearly

show I am in full blown menapause.

it's okay to feel bad about losing your hair. I took

pictures with my long hair ..it was up to my waist.

Because it was thinning. after my first chemo I was

brushing my hair and a bunch of hair came out.. so I

just cut it up to my shoulders..

I gave my husband a lock of my hair. Since he started

to cry with me when it fell out.

Take it easy.. and be positive..

hey,

First, are you getting a shot to shut your ovaries down?? I am. I

got my first shot at the first chemo treatment in June, and my last

period was in July. I had 2 chemo treatments in july also.

I get the triptorilin shot.
