Hi There

My ASD son (now 4.5) had peeling fingers last winter (I live in

Australia, where it is summer now). At the time I talked to other

people on the various ASD egroups and it seems to happen to quite a

few of these kids.

My sons has gone away. I'm not sure what did it. It could even be

a reponse to the cold (ie. I imagine it is winter where you are).

maybe zinc supplementation helped too.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. I was terribly worried at the time

and his fingers (and some parts of his hand) were red raw and very

sore. Looking at his hands now they look perfect. So it does get

better (somehow).

The numerous doctors we saw at the time were also no help - " cover

his hands in petroleum jelly " .

I had a student of mine have this happen to her. It turned out that

she was playing with some limes in her friends backyard and she had a

bad reaction to them. I would question everything she ate or touched

that day. I'm not sure how they treated her, but it did finally get

better and go away.

I sometimes get peeling fingers in winter when I get very stressed and am

lacking in sleep etc. Zinc does help heal, but it is a combination of

problems (winter cold, dehydration?, stress...) that triggers it for me. To

help it heal faster, soak in olive oil or wheat germ oil. Or rub on some

aloe vera (pure not cream with chemicals) if tolerated. I take a

homeopathic tissue salt - No 1 which helps with skin elasticity. It helps

but does not remove the source of the problem.

My son had something similar to this. It started with his index

finger tho, but quickly spread to other fingers. For my son, it was

yeast. I had him soak his fingers in a GSE solution, plus I gave GSE

orally. The peeling stopped within a day or so.

Put several drops of GSE into a small dish of water. Mix it well

[GSE tends to drop to the bottom and stick]. Soak the affected body

part for several minutes [longer is better]. This works very well

for fungal skin issues for my family.

I thought you'd gone to bed Eileen!!! I was thinking earlier......if its the

middle of the day in UK then it must be middle of the night in Taz when you

posted LOL

GSE is GrapeFRIUT Seed Extract, not to be confused with GrapeSEED Extract.

-Hi Dana, Feeling really doapy here but still don't know what GSE is.

Any clues?

I used to get flare ups of a fungal skin rash on torso that left me

with more white spots than a Tazzie Quoll Marsupial.(Havent since

enzymes etc) Various Drs were rather clueless and just handed out

creams with NOT much explanation, Am SO glad I was pointed to this

board. :o)

Thank you Eileen.

- Lol lol, Hi Mandi, I did, Am begining my day again now, I don't

usually stay up so late (Was 1 am ish When posted last night)

Was wondering about the time differance between here in Taz,UK and

USA. Love the multiculturalism on this board lol, I could clog up

and time waste all day with unrelated comparing of culture and beauty

of our differant places of residence.

Thank you for that clarification, There is SO much I have yet to

learn.

You seem like a full bottle on lots. ;o) Eileen.
