Guest guest
I have heard that sometimes it happens but if it doesn't stop I would make an appointment and go see him! Theresa :0)~ *Nothing Tastes As Good As Thinness Feels* -- incision I had open RNY on 1/20. Now a tiny spot on the incision is oozing, not exactly red blood, but a bloody color mixture. I called my surgeon and he wasn't concerned. Said it would stop in a few days. I'm using sanitary napkins to absorb the stuff. (I was surprised I still had some in the house lol.) Anyone else experience this? Arlene
Guest guest
it's called a seroma a collection of fluid from healing that builds up that's what leaks.

Guest guest
The oozing of the incision stopped last nite. Really had me concerned. It is ok today. I showered and cleaned the area and all is well. Arlene Re: incision My incision leaked, then ruptured about 10 days after surgery. My Doc says it isn't common. I had to pack a 2 inch deep hole in it for a long time. It finally started to close about 3 months after surgery. Some days I had to put a maxipad on it when I went to work. Now (9 months from surgery) I have a dimple there and it looks like a 2nd belly button. Near it I developed a hernia that will be repaired probably early summer. In the end - I would do it all over again. Carol R in PA

Guest guest
Thanks Trace. I did have and infection prior to the oozing. I'm on an antibiotic. This group is a God send because of the experience and advice of all of you. Arlene Re: incision Dear Arlene, From what I've read/heard.. It's not uncommon for our incisions to leak small amount of fluid during the healing process. There is a medical name for this but I've forgotten it. Keep an eye on your incision and watch your body temperature. A fever, regardless how slight, is a good indicator of infection. So.. a little bit of oozing is okay but a fever is not, okay...? Take good care and God bless you richly. Love, Trace in Va. Beach, VA Dr. Schechner, Va.
