Guest guest
> Hey Cap'n, > > I do not understand how you could possibly make a remark like that. What do you mean by stating that De Smets' record isn't all success stories?? Which ones haven't been??? Certainly none that I am aware of. Haven't you read his just published paper? I know of one older gentleman - a patient of Koen's- who had a fractured femoral head. He was not the best candidate for a resurf and Koen was the first to tell me. However the gentleman is quite happy with his large head MOM device. I DID remark that Dr De Smet is not afraid of litigation as I do believe - apparently as you do- that it could possibly make a difference. I know of two in Mich who are having a little trouble. Just because you don't know of them, doesn't mean they don't exist. > Now now, Cap'n. No need to put him down needlessly or bash the very good Belgium doc. I know that you are a miracle story, too!!! I'm not a miracle story, I had a good surgeon in Doc Mont, but, a lot of my success was my own doing. When a surgeon does your hip, he does the joint. The muscles are up to you to rebuild. It was no holiday for me before surgery, my musculature had gone to pot. I couldn't have put weight on the hip right away, there wasn't much to be found. > Many surface hippies no longer post because they have put the past behind them. For the time being I am compelled to try to offer to help others because my life is so changed. I WAS told I'd never climb or cycle hard again. Life is indeed a hoot once more!! I'm glad for you, mine is too. What my main objection was to in Dr Steve's post was that " I would only add that the BHR uses a cemented femoral component " like which one isn't? And a little more fact and a little less cheerleading is what gives people the knowledge they need to make an educated decision. Don't take it personally, but you aren't the authority so to say, " Certainly none that I am aware of " doesn't sound like good research. Count to ten and don't get so riled at comments posted.
