Guest guest
Hi friends, I’ve been reading but not responding much lately. It’s not that I’m busy; I’m just feeling lazy… But about food allergies/sensitivities that show up in Celiacs… DS was doing great gf for a couple of months. Now he’s having more sleeping trouble and more stomach aches. I can’t find any gluten in his diet—we eat at home almost exclusively and the kitchen is totally gluten free. Naturally, having said this, I’ll go out there in a few minutes and find something we’ve missed… Have any of you found that other sensitivities keep showing up as time goes on? We know from Enterolab testing that he’s casein, soy, egg, and yeast sensitive. I’m suspecting something else now. Maybe food we’re using to replace these (but might not have eaten so often before) can also cause a reaction? We’re thinking maybe peanuts, maybe sugar. I’m reading all the allergy books from the library now for ideas and things to obsess about. I just came from the grocery store with lots and lots of our very favorite fruits and veggies, including a couple of exotic ones to experiment with. Experiments always make us very happy around here. When I can get back to WF, I’ll get gf rice syrup and agave nectar to try as alternative sweetners. And I’ve restarted the probiotics, which we’d run out of a few weeks ago. Laurie lbilyeu@... Guest guest
I was quite convinced that my neighbor had celiac disease because his symptoms seemed so similar to mine. When his wife finally convinced him to seek help it turns out I was wrong. He was lactose intolerant – which he figured out on his own. But his real problem was fructose. Fructose is found in many, many things and hard to avoid. But it is also a problem with real fruit – so he now avoids fruit and any commercial products with fructose syrup and is doing well. It might be something to consider with your son. There wasn’t really a test – the doc just had him experiment and keep track of his reactions.
