Guest guest
Sorry I can't be of much help but from reading the boards it sounds like most doctors put the child back in cast if they need time for blisters ect to heal. If you are worried maybe you could request this. I am unfamiliar with the French method except to know it is some kind of stretching. Hope others have more help for you. Guest guest
, Can I ask who your dr. is? I do not personally have experience with the bad bad blister situation, but I know others have and I believe some of the children were recasted while the blister healed. I am sure they will reply. Also, the bar should be the width of Gabe's shoulders. Is it maybe too small? I am keeping an eye out for someone who is being treated by our dr. in Atlanta as well, so wanted to check with you. Guest guest
Wow! your story sounds so much like ours. My daughter was born on 3/9/04 with a LCF. She had 7 casts and then went to the DBB. The first shoes were awful and too small. The width of the bar was too short and she was miserable. She developed a blister by the 3rd day. She was then put in a healing cast for one week until the new shoes and bar could get here. Well, that was 2 weeks ago and the sore is back...maybe it never completely healed. We went to the doctor today, I thought she needed a healing cast. The doctor said that she did not need a cast because her foot was so corrected. He taught us stretching exercises and said to do them 10 times/hr while we were awake and to put her brace back on when the sore healed. I questioned him about the need for a healing cast but he insisted that it was not necessary this time. I don't know if your situation is the same, but I am guessing that your doctor felt that your baby's foot is holding correction well enough and is loose enough that it will be okay to use the French method until the sore has healed.
