Guest guest
linda, hi! good for you for joining and being a loser already in just 2 weeks!!! : ) i've started out in 2001 after having my son doing flex points. i loved it. this was the first time joining ww, so what did i have to compare to? then in 2003 after having my next baby i went back to flex points and lost all but about 6 lbs...in the meantime i started working for ww as a receptionist and they introduced core to us months ahead of schedule so that we would know how it worked and see how it worked for us. after doing core i was hooked!!! the one thing about the flex plan that i didn't like was feeling like i was so focused on what i was going to eat...writing things down, counting points, measuring everything, etc. i always said, " if someone just told we what to eat it would be so much easier " , presto, core was the answer to my request. i felt like i was suddenly making better choices, eating more fruit and veggies, grains and things that normally i would not have chosen. like, i was the kind of person that if i had 2 points left in the day would i have picked a 2 pt bar or a banana? ahhhhhhh, the thing with chocolate for sure, no questions asked. when i tried core, i really was feeling fine with where i was weightwise, sure the scale was on a number that i wished was a tad lower, not much, and my clothes fit great, i felt physically in great shape for just having a baby. so trying core i thought, " great, if i can lose another 3 or 5 that would be super " , never really thinking i would. i did and without a whole lot of effort. my husband starting eating the same foods i was eating and he dropped 20 lbs without exercising. the down side i see to the core program is...after doing it for 3 months, i found myself feeling tired of eating the same stuff. i know it was my own fault, b/c i was getting lazy with just making the same stuff and not trying new things. so i took a break and felt absolutely LOUSY after eating stuff that was less than healthy. i'm back on the core and within 2 days i feel really good again. it is very nice to know that you can always try it a week and go back to the flex plan if it doesn't work for you. i do know some people have a problem finding that feeling satisfied point when they're eating without measuring etc. you really have to pay attention to that or else the core can become a eating all you can eat plan which will backfire! one other thing i love about core is when it comes to eating out i feel like i can pick something off a menu much easier. with the flex plan i was either feeling like i had over counted or undercounted pointwise on my choices...which may or may not effect the rest of my week. : ( see i'm not all that disciplined about looking up things before i go into a restaurant and then when i get there i think, " hmmmmmmm, what am i hungry for? " .......but on core somehow i felt like, " okay, these are my choices, i can eat a baked potato, veggies, and salmon, or steak, or chicken " ....thats just me though. sorry for rambling...i get excited when i talk about it! : ) good luck and keep up the great work!! heidi
Guest guest
I've done both. On Core I was too tempted to cheat. It didn't fit my lifestyle at all. I was using all of my flex points just by eating normal things like a slice of bread or a little margarine. For me it was nearly impossible to eat out on Core and really enjoy what I was eating (plus having to pay more for things that are core in most cases). Then I didn't have any points left for " treats. " I'm feeding a skinny husband and am on a tight budget. So it's flex points for me, all the way! Besides, on a personal note, I just cannot stand behind any " diet " that excludes healthy things like whole wheat bread (unless you use your flex points), Fat Free, Sugar Free yogurt cups, low fat cheese (non-fat cheese tastes like plastic to me), etc.... Just my 2 cents worth. It really just depends on your lifestyle. If I had lots of money and lots of time to cook, I might switch back to core, but not until then! Just so I don't sound too negative about core: The fact that you get 2tbs of olive or other healthy oil, and fruit, and veggies, and you don't have to measure is great. I guess I just don't have the will-power to pull it off. 168/158.5/135 Hoping and Praying for a loss tomorrow. I've been POP this week!
