Or will I have to go back to specialist allergy/immunology? What's the correlation of plasma cysteine to the merc issue? Alison. I am overwhelmed. So many nutritional supplements, chelation stuff, etc. Andy's right of course, our health comes out of a bottle for a few years. I just can't get anywhere with my HMO dr. through medicare, quite the joke. Will probably get everything I need fro Dr. Marinkovich toxic mold specialist-but costs $350.00 each time he draws blood. Or will I have to go back to specialist allergy/immunology? Well, there is some panel it is part of-- but I always forget the name of it -- maybe a liver panel. It would be a blood test (whether done along or with many tests reported together on one form). It would be reported as " plasma cysteine " on the paper. So, if you don't have that then you can decide if you want to get it done. You would need a doctor (or other practitioner who can order to tests) to sign for it, but not necessarily an allergist/immunologist. > What's the correlation of plasma cysteine to the merc issue? Well, there are sort of 2 answers to this. On the one hand, there is no direct correlation at all. The reason you might want a plasma cysteine test is to tell you whether your kid would should get supplemental sulfur or be on sulfur restrictive type of diet. Notice this does not check for if your kid is mercury toxic, it does not remove mercury, etc. On the other hand, there is a connection, in that many people (not all) who are mercury toxic are EITHER high or low sulfur, so it is a relevant issue in a lot of cases. It is a little like if I said to you " many people with mercury poisoning also have thyroid problems, so you can watch for that " . It is not totally unrelated to mercury, but testing the thyroid is not directly about mercury. > Alison. I am overwhelmed. It can be helpful, but it is not some mandatory essential thing.
