Guest guest
Thought I'd ask you guys. Just received a letter from my insurance company regarding my surgery in Belgium. Bit of a surprise to say the least. They state that they are unable to provide reimbursement without additional information. They are requesting inpatient clinical documentation from the facility where I was hospitalized. So any ideas, words of wisdom, or bear traps to avoid before I charge ahead on this?? Thanks in advance, Rock climbin'Jude LBHR De Smet 09/11/
Guest guest
Hi Jude! See if someone at your IC will tell you whether they want your complete hospital record or if a summary in English to include inclusive dates will do. Tell them the original is unlikely to be in English then ask if they need it sent directly to them from the hospital. If they still don't get it, ask if they have anyone on staff who has ever driven a cab or otherwise worked in Belgium or Gent. Send a note off to Koen asking him to send your IC, copy to you, whatever they say they need while perhaps describing your BHR as a THR in the process. Keep in mind that the base credo of today's insurance business is, " If at first you just deny, delay then deny again! Try to give them what they're asking for in as simple and irrefutable a format as possible. Then get back to climbin' and forget about them and maybe consider a vote for somebody who advocates politician-class healthcare for all come next Novemeber! Good luck and best wishes!! Guest guest
Steve- I had received a 37 page document from Belgium which included what I thought to be massive amounts of info. All in Dutch of course. My insurance company had it translated. I guess it was primarily a bill. I am just wondering whether my IC is trying to determine medical necessity. Which is, as you and I know, crazy. However I will call (gulp!) and try to pinpoint what they need. I know that Koen will help. I will keep the group informed in case this ever happens to any one else. Thank you for your input and support! Jude Re: clinical notes? Dr Steve...... Hi Jude!
