Sign me up for the Bibliomaniacs Anonymous! Seriously, they should have a

12-step program for that! As I look around at the 6 bookshelves worth of

books that will have to be moved (3 of them are stacked double rows), not to

mention my kids' bookshelf now. I must stay away from bookstores!

I think there was a Sex and the City episode on how much one character had

spent on shoes. Man, if I had to add up how much we've spent on books, it

would be scary!

I have been making much better use of libraries lately. I browse the

bookstore and borrow from the library (feeling very virtuous and not quite

so guilty now!)

(no, no, Amazon.com is on my list of links!)

I'd comment on how terribly naughty you are if it weren't for that old cliche

" people in glass houses. " (etc.) Computers, while they are great for

information and virtually hanging out with friends, will never replace the

sensual pleasure of curling up in a warm spot with a new book and finding an

alternative universe.

I'm sooo hooked!

Lets hope nobody needs new shoes this month.

laughing with you,

If there *were* a 12 step program for BA (Bibliomaniacs Anonymous) my

husband would sign me up so fast I wouldn't know what happened to me!

A double row of books, I had not thought of that, but have been wondering

what the heck I was going to do with the hundred or so books that are

sitting on the floor in front of my 5 already full bookcases. Now I have a

project for this afternoon!

:) Pam (who really must get better aquainted with the library :-)

Poor Pam!

I'm just not sure what the twelve steps would be! Not quite the same as the

other addictions for sure.

Part of the disease is that libraries are not so attractive. For one thing you

have the wood pulp breaking down and that makes for some allergic stuff (hence

my claim to be allergic to libraries!) Secondly I sometimes get a bit put out

to find other people's hair and bits of lunch in the book I'm reading from the

library. These things are usually at the juiciest parts and are quite

distracting! And the very worst part, probably leftover from being a kid, you

have to take those books back! By that time they are friends that you don't

want to part with or something you completely forget until the library police

start harassing you.

I know. Its sick.

BTW if you get desperate and can no longer walk past the pile on your floor, the

old cinderblock and board method from college still works.

Doesn't this mean you get cold when reading a book all night, I

have a blanket downstairs for the late night television

sessions, but the computers keep it warm in the Office. 23C at

the moment.

3AM and time to sleep.

Sign me up for the twelve step program for Bibliomaniacs. I also have

bookshelves of books. A problem I had when hyper was I was reading a book a

night. I would start reading a good book and stay up all night and wouldn't

go to bed until I was finished. DH made me stop reading in bed.

Any Laurel you are right nothing can replace curling up with a good book.
