A push to personal goal

Hi everyone,

I have just now caught up on every last post, so I feel like I know

what is going on with everyone again. I got several weeks behind on

reading posts during our vacation in June. And then at the end of

June and all through the month of July I was " out of commission "

because of problems with my lower back. I was pretty much forced to

do nothing. I couldn't teach my water aerobics classes, I couldn't

sit at the computer for more than 5 minutes without pain, I couldn't

get in and out of the car without pain, I could hardly put on my

shoes. But with time and patience and rest and sticking to

the " do's and dont's " , things seem to be back to almost normal.

Last Friday I taught my first class in over 5 weeks, and this week I

am back on schedule for 3 classes a week. Hopefully, things will

keep improving as I am still not as strong as I was.

Anyway, like I said, I finally got all caught up on reading posts.

Bette - YOU GO GIRL - I knew you could do it, you deserve to be

proud. Welcome to all the new members and I look forward to

learning more about you all. Congratulations to all the successes,

whether it be weight losses, non-scale victories, or exercise

triumphs.

I reached my WW goal (136) in December, and made Lifetime in Feb.

I have stayed between 133 and 135.2 on all my weigh ins since then.

But, my personal goal was 128, and I haven't really put any effort

into getting to that. With vacations and then my back problems, I

was just trying to stay under 136. I am 54 years old and am 5'5 "

tall. But now I feel the urge to go for it and try to lose those few

more pounds. Does anyone have any ideas how to " kick things into

gear " when I have really gotten used to doing what it takes to

maintain the weight I am at for 8 months now. Any suggestions would

be appreciated.

Hi Terri - it's so good to hear from you! I was thinking about you just

this week, and wondering where you had gone! I am so sorry to hear about

your back problems -- I know how painful and disabling they can be! But it

sounds like you're *almost* recovered now. Be sure to be careful, so you

don't reinjure it!

I think you've done very well with maintaining your weight through it all!

You are doing so well! I'm confident that you will find a way to lose those

last 5 pounds or so. Have you tried varying your points each day rather

than sticking to a target every day? I've found that that gives me a

kick-start when I get to a place where things aren't moving for me. I'm

assuming that you're at a target of 20 points, so, for instance, you could

have a day at 20, then 24, then 18 (gasp!), then 20, 22, 18 again. I don't

recommend going below your target on a regular basis, but sometimes it gives

the ol' bod a little wake-up call! Also, you probably know this better than

I, but you might want to have a few days where you are VERY careful about

having adequate protein intake with extra veggies and complex carbs, and

also allowing NO sweet treats. That will sometimes kick-start things for

me.

I know you can do it! Hang in there. And thanks much for your

congratulations!

Hugs,

Bette
