,

Congratulations! I now know that ginger and peppermint are two natural

remedies for nausea. I give my son minty ginger tincture by Herbs for Kids

for nausea/motion sickness. Perhaps you can check with your health food

store for an adult version, or try this at an appropriate dose. Also look

into those ginger lozenges or a peppermint tea.

Best wishes,

Patty

[ ] medication for nausea?

I just found out I am pregnant with baby #4 and am wondering if

there is something " safe " out there to take for morning sickness. I

was very sick with baby #2, not as bad with baby #3 and not sick at

all with #1. I am just trying to prepare myself for the worst I

guess. I have also had a terrible cold with lots and lots of

coughing. Could anyone suggest something that I could take for chest

congestion?

Thanks,

Congestion: tea tree oil on the chest or clothing. You can gargle with it

too, just add a couple of drops to warm water (salted if you like - it's

soothing & helps kill germs too). Ricola all natural cough drops. (read

ingredients - some have artificial sweetener) Slippery elm lozenges from

the health food store also good for cough & sore throat. Neti pot --

Nausea remedies for pregnancy: I was hospitalized with this in my 1st pg.

Candied ginger can sometimes help; I've found it to be the most effective of

the various ginger remedies. Altoids (strong peppermint candies) can also

be helpful.

There's a product called EmergenC which is a drink powder. Read ingredients

to verify all natural. B vits, C, K. Settles the stomach -- after you

drink it & are feeling better, EAT. I would not take more than 2 a day. If

you get diahrrea from it, back off - t's the vit C. Most adults can handle

2g tho. This is safe for pregnancy but if you take extra C throughout the

pg (1-2g/day is shown to reduce the incidence of toxemia by I believe 50%,

but more than 6g/day may increase risk of m/c) you should continue after the

birth & breastfeed, so baby continues to get C from you. Sudden reduction

of vit C intake can cause withdrawl symptoms.

The most important thing for me was to EAT PROTEIN. With my 2nd & 3rd pgs,

my midwives had me eat a protein snack every waking hour. A handful of

nuts, a hardboiled egg, a piece of cheese, a few bites of a chicken breast.

Nibble nibble nibble protein all day long. Also avoid refined carbs -

sugar, white flour, potatoes for some people. This helps keep blood sugar

stable; my midwives claim pregnancy makes blood sugar swings more dramatic

and it is these swings which cause the nausea...don't know how scientific

their info is but it worked for me. They recommend 80-100grams of protein a

day for pregnancy & breastfeeding. Typically humans need 60-80g/day so

that's an extra 20 grams over what you should already be eating. (Generally

60 for small, inactive, or female people; more toward 80 for larger, more

active, or male people...but eat what makes you feel your best.)

Feel free to write me privately if you want.

-Sara.

nausea during pregnancy can be a sign of B6 depletion.

I guess you would have tolook up a recommended amount on line or ask your

Dr. HOmeopathy can provide a lot of relief for cold symptoms. Look up

" materia medica online " and type in your symptoms. You should be able to

figure out an appropriate remedy

from the choices/indications. If you can handle lemonade, a half lemon

squeezed into very warm water and sweetened with whatever you like, then

drunk straight down can relieve congestion.

Hope you feel better soon :)

Do a websearch for Cumin aromatherapy oil. Mix a few drops of that with

lotion and rub on your abdomen anytime you have nausea or any type of abdominal

discomfort. It is miraculous at instantly curing it.
