Guest guest
Hello everyone, I'm just in the beginning stages of changing my son's diet. (I have not taken gluten out of his diet yet, just dairy). This past Saturday I completely took him off regular cow's milk and started giving him Sun Soy (soymilk). This is his 4th day only drinking soy milk and he now has bad case of diarreha (sp?). Could this be from swithing him too drastically to the soy milk? Should I have gradually made the change? Before, when he was on regular milk, his stools were loose, but not like they are right now (diarreha). Has anyone else experienced this? Please help! It's so great to have a group to email your questions/concerns to! Thanks Debbie
Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I put myself and my down syndrome son on this diet when my daughter started it for her child and me and my down syndrome son had diarreha for a few days. I was wondering myself if it was the diet, and suspected it was. It cleared up after about 4 or 5 days and now we are fine. My grandson or my daughter did not experience this and they went on the diet same time as we did. > Hello everyone, > I'm just in the beginning stages of changing my son's diet. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Excluding cowmilk is not enough. Please also consider excluding other sources of casein (cheese, yoghurt, mother's milk, goat's milk etc. ) About the diarrhea I don't know. Good luck, keep it up, Maarjan / Netherlands > Hello everyone, > I'm just in the beginning stages of changing my son's diet. (I have > not taken gluten out of his diet yet, just dairy). I later found that it contains casein so I switched to Kirmans Pro-Bio Gold. When I stopped the Lactobacillus GG my son got diarrhea and I thought it was something else. When I got my order from Kirmans and got the Pro-Bio Gold in his system he cleared up. You might check with your Dr. some kids are allergic to soy but then again it might just mean adding a Pro-biotic or another suppliment. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I'm not an expert but we tried soy and my son also had the runs. Maybe he is sensitive to soy. We had to change to Vance's DariFree. It was recommended in 's book " Special Diets for Special Kids " . Hope this helps. Patty
