I'm doing a test through the search engines to see what comes up when I

type in " NF2. " So far I'm only getting the old crew website at

http://www.webcrossings.com/nf2crew as our website, not the new one at

http://www.nf2crew.com The old webcrossings site was Adam's and Pete

took us to our very own domain. I thought webcrossings closed that old

one?! How can we fix it so that our new website is the one found in

web searches?

Hey Jennette and our Most Excellent WebMasters (many thanks all around--you're

all deeply appreciated!), I kind of wonder if webcrossings or the family

left the webcrossings site up as a tribute to Adam. My memory is failing me on

the specifics, but I'm sure Pete will chime in before too long. I can't

remember if access or uncertainty in the stability of the domain were in

question when Pete switched over. We should be able to get a prominent link to

the new site on the old one somehow, if the old one's still being supported,

right? I'm not much help in that question, but turning attention to get the new

one popping up higher on the various search engines... different ones use

different searching techniques, but it would be a really good idea to get a

title in the HTML code (that's a biggie!) as well as maybe including some META

tags.

Here's the 10 second addition of HTML code:

<HEAD>

<TITLE>NF2 Crew Neurofibromatosis Type 2 Support Group</TITLE>

<META name= " description " content= " Brief, but informative description of us! " >

<META name= " keywords " content= " keywords that people would probably use to search

for us, with most important ones listed first " >

</HEAD>

I lifted the basis of this from the following webpage that goes into more depth

and with informative links for all kinds of stuff related to making your website

more likely to be found by the people looking for it (even if they don't yet

realize it exists).

http://searchenginewatch.com/webmasters/meta.html

within that:

There's more buried in there about submitting pages to various search engines...

(I haven't looked at this stuff with any rigor at all (no courses...), and only

passed upon it briefly several years ago when I was playing around with my

homepage. The site I used to create mine and register with engines is no longer

active, but I guess meta tags are still used widely and other pages/registration

sites have been created since then.)

To round things out, here's the link to a page that generates meta tags for you:

http://www.siteannounce.com/tools/meta-tag-generator/

Thinking of you all, and all the people that " Still Haven't Found " what they're

looking for....

Wishing everyone Beautiful Days! Hugs,
