Guest guest
, I sent that last email by mistake because my son distracted me just as I was starting to write it. So, here goes again...a "firm" diagnosis is often impossible with Lupus until your symptoms are more obvious, test results more positive, and indications in general are more "present" for the docs to see. Some of us have waited years, myself included, before getting a firm dx. However, do not despair. Lupus often presents differently in different people, test results can vary, and yes, if you are not currently flaring, your ANA may come back negative or borderline positive. I often have a negative ANA when I AM flaring. It's all a crap shoot, really. Your best bet is to address each thing as it happens, be assertive with your docs about your condition/needs, and if you find that you are suffering from depression for more than two weeks, get help with antidepressants. Depression is part and parcel of this disease we call Lupus, because of the myriad conditions that can cause sleep deprivation, mood swings, and pain. Don't be afraid to express your fears to us, we certainly under- stand because we've been there, done that, too. Know that each of us has been where you are, now, and has weathered it, so you can, too. Keep writing to us and we'll be here to help you through the process. Loving hugs, MM
